Gay White, former first

When a friend suggested White become a member of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) Board, she met with Scott Simon, director of the organization. “I was amazed, just floored by the work they do. They are some of the busiest, most dedicated individuals … it’s scientists, biologists, botanists … all working to preserve our state’s beauty,” White said. That was in 2004, and she’s worked to promote the organization’s mission ever since. Her favorite TNC projects involve Arkansas Rivers; she’s particularly proud of the potentially fatal disruptions to the bats during hiwork they’ve done to preserve the integrity of the Saline River and the work bernation.
