Who Are Ya?
If you’re looking for the most consistent and impressive of the summer signings, look no further than Luis Perez. The 22 year old right back returned to play against his home town club Sevilla, and had another solid defensive game. His performance at home to Espanyol in the cup was another stand out display. Born in Utrera, Luis learnt his craft with the Sevilla C team in the fourth tier of Spanish football. After playing 36 games of the 2014 2015 campaign, he was rewarded with a couple of late run outs with the B team one step up in Segunda B. A summer move took Luis to Real Jaen on a one year deal and got his only senior goal to date. After progressing well, Elche spotted him and snapped him up last season, and his debut came against CDT as a second half sub. Not an automatic choice, Luis did rack up 21 games in a difficult season. It was a good spot by our sporting director Serrano to pick him up in the summer and sign him for three years. Looking at his strengths, he is very cool on the ball, even tempered and not another card magnet, in the last couple of games he has shown his determination and strength when battling with an opponent near the goal line, and he doesn’t lose many tackles. It was always going to be difficult to find a successor to Raul Camara but at 22 years old Luis can continue to develop with us and hopefully help us to win that elusive promotion. You can follow him on Twitter @luigipeerez2

to winning ways against newly promoted Cultural Leonesa. The General back top of the 2nd division is so tight it is incredible with just one point l E separating the top six clubs. We have a steady defence (fourth best in league) and have played After five straight draws (plus one in the Cup), we simply have to get
some excellent matches this season but critics will point to the lack of ruthlessness in these drawn games. It could have been so much better. Manager Pep Marti has started to come under some pressure from the media and fans alike recently. So what are the pros and cons of Marti? The pros are that he is a club man, having been the captain of CDT under Rafa Benitez, and plenty of European success with Sevilla. He knows the squad inside out and does like to give chances to the youth players. On the downside he loves to tinker with the team, and as we roll into November he has not yet defined his style of play or preferred starting eleven. In his defence the attacking third has been hampered by injuries so far this season, but at last we should see all our attackers back in action today. I say we give him and the players a huge vote of confidence as nerves off the pitch will only lead to nerves on the pitch. I am convinced that by the time we go into the Christmas break we will be a regular top six team. Free mince pies on the coach for all if that is not the case! Vamos Tete!

The Cabildo have agreed to a 140,000€ improvement programme at the Heliodoro. It includes a refurbishment of the toilet blocks and other works around different areas of the ground. So we can all look forward to having a full set of working taps, locks on the doors and a never ending supply of bog rolls. Another excellent away trip to Sevilla last weekend was had by all. Well, up until the second half that was, but we’re used to that. Next away trips members are looking at, are Albacete on Jan 7th (staying in Alicante) and Granada on Feb 4th at 225€, which includes flights, transfers and three nights hotel. There is always plenty of up and coming info on our Armada Sur Awaydays page, where you can find out more about these trips. Suso has been given a one year extension to his contract which may seem strange given that he will be 33 years old next March. Aitor, Vitolo and Carlos Ruiz have already reached this age and beyond. With respect for these players who have served us well, it wouldn’t look very ambitious if they too are offered an extension to their contracts.
Only one winner in the top six last week, Numancia with a close victory over Alcorcon. Granada are the new leaders after their draw against Osasuna. Lugo and Sporting both lost, but are still in second and third place. Last nights’ Friday game resulted in a win for Osasuna, which puts them top albeit with an extra game played. Having drawn five games in a row now, we are gradually losing touch with the top six. Todays’ opponents Leonesa did start the season well, but have now slipped to fourteenth place after failing to win since game five. They, like us though, have only been defeated three times and have drawn seven. Ex Tenerife midfielder Yeray returns with the visiting team. Almeria have surprisingly dropped into the relegation zone after a six game run that only yielded two points. They are joined by Lorca, Cordoba and Sevilla b, who coincidentally we have all failed to beat. Gimnastic and Albacete are out of trouble for the moment. Alcorcon are going in the wrong direction.
