A pain in the Peñas with El General I thought I would write a piece to explain the situation with the CDT Fan Clubs. Armada Sur is part of the official CDT Fan Federation along with a number of other groups. However the largest fan club in the stadium, the Frente Blanquiazul, are not now part of the official federation. This was down to differences encountered last summer with other groups as well as the clubs insistence that all their members identities must be known to them. Being the most radical fan club at Tenerife they were reluctant to do this. Another large group the ‘Boca Chinyero’ also left at this time. The advantages of being an official Peña are many. In theory the club are more open to listen to your views than if you were not registered. Also all away tickets cost 12,40€ to members. Having two separate alliancies at CD Tenerife is not healthy for the club or the team so i hope that these discrepancies can be ironed out soon. A united front can go a long way. It is difficult for us at the Armada Sur as we are stuck between the two. Since the late nineties we have stood side by side with the Frente in the stands but we also want to be in the official federation. So at this stage we’re not sure how it will work out. Everyone needs to talk and work it out for the good of the club. It may not have been such a successful season on the pitch as last but off l a r the pitch Armada Sur continues to grow. We are now the fourth biggest Fan e n e G Club on season tickets sold and we ran two coaches to every match, in l E fact three coaches on two different occasions. The record amount travelling on the coaches was for the Barcelona B game on January 21st at 147, but sods law that was the worst performance of the whole season and we were 0-3 down after just 30 minutes. Typical bloody CDT!. Another good year of charity collections was undertaken and Tenerife fans also collected food and clothes for the local charities, so thanks to all for that. They do say though that they have enough lentils and pasta for life, so maybe something of a better quality next time ok? So what does the future bring? The centre of the park looks promising for next season with Acosta, Milla and Alberto. I am excited by that, but concerned about other areas such as the defence. Getting on a bit our back four aren’t they with a combined age of 134. I have heard about experienced defences but that is ridiculous. Up front is another worry, will Longo come back? He says he wants to play in La Liga or Seria A but if another loan deal can be arranged with Inter Milan doesn’t he owe us one more year after his stop-start season? And will Mr. Glasslegs himself (Juan Villar) have a good run in the team, seven different injuries last term. As for the club itself, it needs a major overhaul. Too many people in comfortable positions and a President, even with his heart in the club, that needs to step up his game. Tonight we are only playing for pride whilst our visitors Albacete are playing for survival, so it should make for an interesting game.
Vamos Tete!
The player with most admonishments for the season was Bryan Acosta with seven yellows, plus one double yellow and a straight red. The squad totalled 111 yellows, seven reds and committed 627 fouls.

We welcome the return of Mallorca to the second tier (especially if we can beat them 4-1 away again). And also Rayo Majadahonda of Madrid, who have reached this level for the first time in their history, and were still in the Tercera just two seasons ago. The B team lost the promotion round on the away goal ruling. More controversy as what could have been the winning goal was chalked off by the officials for a dubious offside ruling. They do have a second opportunity to advance, albeit a long winded one. They play SD Ejea in the next round. The first game being today (Saturday) and the home leg next weekend on the 9th. Out of the top 21 goal scorers in the division, four are from CD Tenerife. Longo will have missed 15 games through injury by the end of today. Villar has missed 16. How many would they have scored if they had remained fit for the season? Villar has been the most potent scorer with a goal every 124 minutes. That would mean a 30 goal season if he’d played every minute of every game. Longo’s was 155 minutes, so would mean a tally of 24. Even if they’d both completed three quarters of the season, they’d have scored forty goals between them.
Celebrations for Huesca and Rayo Vallecano as they take the automatic promotion spots this season. Sporting and Zaragoza have confirmed their places in the play offs, but anyone from ninth to fifth can secure a place as there are only two points separating them. Cadiz are in the best position, but play away to Granada, who after a disappointing season will want to show some pride. The must watch game is Valladolid at home to Osasuna. A draw would mean Osasuna going above Valladolid as a result of the head to head results. Barcelona B are now relegated, but the fight to avoid taking the last place has reached an unbelievable climax, with no fewer than six teams that could make the drop. Today’s opponents Albacete are one of them, who are level on points with Leonesa and the ever improving Cordoba. Gimnastic may be the lucky ones here, as they face a Rayo team that have already secured promotion and have probably been on the piss all week. Almeria must overcome a lacklustre Lugo side to stand any chance of saving themselves.

Milla awarded Mahou player of month for May We won’t talk about him marking thin air last week when Perea popped up to score for Cadiz (learning curve). Let’s look forward to the promise that this lad has shown in his first six months at the club. A recap of the season’s awards reveal that it was won twice by Juan Carlos, Aitor Sanz, Luis Milla and Bryan Acosta. And Alberto and Jorge (yes Jorge) with one. Interesting that since Joseba’s arrival, three of those players have hardly had any game time between them. Time will tell if their days at the club are numbered. Jorge has been the disappointment of the season, after showing promise last year.
