Who Are Ya?
Dani Hernández
An established Venezuelan international, Dani moved to Spain at 2 years old and played his early games at Rayo Mahadahonda and Deportivo Guadalajara before joining Real Madrid and playing for the C team. In the search for first team football Dani joined Real Jaen, just missing out on promotion to the Segunda but he got there anyway by moving to SD Huesca. The starting role between the sticks has been elusive for Dani, his highlights at next stop Real Murcia came in Copa del Rey games but the bench was his usual position. After a split with Murcia he got the call from Venezuela to play in the Copa America 2011 before joining Valladolid. Although only back up, Dani played his part in Valladolid’s promotion to La Primera, that didn’t stop the wandering and he had a season loaned to Asteras Tripolis in the Greek League, Vitolo will know about him from his time in that league. It seems Valladolid want to sign a replacement back up before loaning Dani to CDT, his brother Jonay had a his brother Jonay had a brief spell with us in 2011-12 so he will have some idea of what’s awaiting him.

l positive is that CDT only have three less points than at the rlaOne a e r e n n same time last season(and we were third in the league by e e G G Ell E April). You can add to that striker Diego Ifran, who is showing some class where we most need it. What a fantastic back-heel goal that was last week! Thing is he is so alone up front, maybe we could get him a cat or something for a bit of company, not sure. Last Saturday in Sevilla the Real Betis fans must have been buoyed up, looking at our forward line-up in the match programme,or lack of it. The programme stated that we had only 3 strikers in the whole squad, Ifran (quality) but then only Cristo Gonzalez (a 17yr old prodigy) and Aridane. We clearly need to bring in one or two new strikers soon but with no transfer funds available that is difficult. A club the size of CDT should be able to generate more money throughout the season, but more of that next time. Two home games now in succession and six points please!

The Old Cap & Rattle with Bob Gant There's nothing like a good old sing song when you’re at football. I should take this opportunity to thank my primary school for preparing me for this. 'Glory Glory (team name here)', 'If you all hate (opposing team name here) clap your hands', 'Oh when the (team colour or nickname here) go marching in', even 'You're not singing anymore' were all parodies of hymns or songs we used to sing in music class. Then I can thank Grandad for ‘Who ate all the pies? You fat bastard, you ate all the pies' and 'My Ole Man said be a Pio fan, I said....' (well you know the rest). Even Christmas songs didn't escape 'Osgood Osgood, Born is the King of Stamford Bridge' and 'Walking in a (your favourite player) Wonderland.
Then Pop music kicks in and the list is endless, the most notable of all I suppose being 'You'll never walk alone' (that didn't begin life as a pop song at all). I still wonder how 'Ob-La-Di, ObLa-Da, Yellow Submarine and more interestingly Moonlight Shadow found their way on to the terraces of the Heliodoro. And more obscure than that are two songs by relative unknowns. 'Pop Goes The World' by Men Without Hats and 'I Will Follow Him' by Little Peggy March (who?), are two stolen tunes that you will hear at every Tenerife home game without fail. Take a few minutes to find them on Youtube, and you'll see exactly what I mean. Quite how these two got there, is the biggest mystery of all.
