Part 1
BuilD a Sign
What are my signs ? I was very confused by this exercice. How to define myself ? I could only find defaults. I had some problems to define me like a person without the group or the social function !!! After giving it a thought, I had found two adjectives : - well balanced - simple

realisation
Explanation I wanted to represent a man/or woman with his/her legs spread apart and arms held up to illustrate the fact of being balanced.. The ying and the yang is in harmony with his/her environnement, showing once again the image of someone well balanced. The black and the white colors are used to represent sobriety and simplicity.
perception In my opinion this exercice was difficult because it required high creativity and the necessity to forget the obvious. In fact my logo is not abstract, it misses originality to be eye catching. This is due to a lack of knowledge of the materials and lack of exploration. The result is a bit bland ! The conclusion it’s a good exercice because I need to think differently and out of my comfort zone .
what i learnt I should have respected four steps to progress in my visual thinking - collecting (screening informations about me) - seeing = selecting and clumping (which patterns, priorities, interactions) - imagining = seeing what isn’t there (Can I rearrange it to make sense) - showing = making it all clear (of all I’ve imagined, what are the three most important impressions that emerged both for me and for my audience).
Part 2 Build a model
From photo that could arouse emotions, we must achieve a model that reflects this feeling or this interest
Phase 1
Take a picture !
This picture is a ode to the flannerie. The lands is partly a mystical place. The absence of light and the natural muted colors suggest the serenite and stillness. The sleeping water which escapes and eventually merge into the horizon represents the spirit that roams. Fog in the distance gives a sense of reverie and be in another world where nobody can reach us. The statics seaguls in the foreground remind us that we are here but only in suspention. Time is stopped and we’re only with us even.
ocean beach
A
This is beautiful ! The abstract sculpture and natural forms are made with iron and tired wire. We can view at different angles and observe how it continuously change depending on you viewing angle. It’s transparent. The images rooted in nature and the colors of the materals gave us a sense of harmony. The shadows game with a concrete wall creates a mysterious and magical environnement. It is a perfect place for a meditation
ruth Asawa (De young)
This picture evokes a painting of Turner . It has a dramatic subject by emphasizing luminosity and atmosphere. The sky and the sea seem to be fighting in a battle between each other. The radiance and tumultuous sky create a powerfull effect. Still, less and less attention to the house and more to the natural elements. It is the victory of the Nature.
Pacifica
I love the ultra-modern construction of the De young The light invades inside the museum and magnifies his architecture. The architectes set out to use natural materials, such as copper, wood, stone and glass in its design. The landscape of the park flows out in all directions by the huge windows. Men silhouettes appears strangely grotesque and cariturale like a comic book. Nature seems again dominates‌..
De young museum
This mural is honoring the memory of a famous French illustrator Jean Giraud Moebius This painting is poetic and metaphisyc. The heavy blue presence and the lack of decor gives power to the image and character. This character emanates a certain sweetness in a science fiction environment.
Clarion Alley
A place where imagination, creativity and coktail happily coalesce ‌
Eureka Valley
perception Before realizing this portefolio, I took a picture and I said : I like it, it’s the Golden Gate but I never tried to express what I felt when watching it And this is the first step before the creation
Phase 2
the model
s t e p 1
It’s only a window . There are no idea behind this project neither any links with the precedent work : Flannery Trough SF For me the architecture was something rational and mathematical !
Built a Wall
SteP 2 Add a parallel Wall
No comment. It is a ugly project in the conception and in art and craft; It is supposed to represent a library !
I did it but I didn’t reflect before doing it !
I need some reflection before I start this new phase Which feeling does this picture generate? the mood of the place, smell ...
Project 3 I got inspired by picture from pacifica and de Young. The first part represents a wave in the ocean (brown part), the second part (white part ) is the wave breaking to the beach. And the roof rising to the sky is the wave going back to ocean. A black roof is showing the turbulence of the sky. The perforated steel panels are inspired by the dee young.
Wheakness of the project -
too monumental, cold atmosphere sharp no level difference unlike the narrative we don’t see the wave. no dynamic
projet 4
-strong point more dynamic with the introduction of the curves and different level. The narrative seem better with the model.
-Weakness too sharp, too compact ( accentuated by the roof)
Projet 5 Strong point The tower creates a smooth break Introducing a wall in triangle to break the wall angles . Weakness - too uniform, - the windows suggest a sharp knife blades - the tower should be more integrated
Narratif the project ? a library nested in a birch forest. A simple nautre, natural, in green and grayed tons. The birch represents purety and renewale which is in certain case what we search for in reading. We come to this library to dream, wander and not to borrow a book. Thus, glass screens from the floor to the roof open on the outside, communing with nature. Opened to the west to let the light through, facing book shelves. Graduated openings remind us of book spines, allowing to create spaces and crannies to isolate yourself while reading. Perforated walls on the side are there to create subtle light fluctuations and to burst the rectiline aspect of the openings. We enter alongside a wave shaped wall representing an invitation to travel breaking the abrupt aspect of the windows. The rising roof softens the structure, representing the rise of the spirit.
Material wise - Outside, we might imagine a construction with concrete walls, perforated walls made of coper to create a monastic atmosphere and colors fading with nature. While inside we might find natural tones such as leather, wood and stone confering more warmth and comfort, thus aggreing with the outside nature.
Thus, in a minimalist comfort we lose ourself to our reading, to the resting space and the infinite possibilities offered to us.
P R O J E t F i N A L
It’s a environnemental education center surrounded by a nature located in north west of france. The building offering sweeping views whith large open glasses. This is a relaxing aera, a place for observation The opposite wall has a long drastic window to create a intimate atmosphere. A place to reflect. This tower functions as a look out tower with an external stair . And you can access to the roof.
A steel roof with holes that creates a variation in color . And shadows produced from the hole cuts out of the roof are reflected inside the center .
Strong points - introduced a curve to the entrance. The curve creates a welcoming entrance and responded to exterior curve - Timber represents the natural element of the space - the gradual slope of the windows was used as a connection with the environnement -
The shadows of the roof contribute to creating different atmospheres the staircases of the tower link it the building Back windows are gradually thin and narrow. It brings a touch of elegance and creates another sequence.
Weakness - the tower should be in a lighter material, more aerial. like wicker; - the drastic windows should be less monocal

Conclusion
I have enjoyed this class ! We must work hard and not discourage. But we had the satisfaction of seeing the results. The results are not just on art and crafts or designs. It was a thought process and a journey. It requires to open your eyes, use your experiences, your reading and your feelings.
And after you have to translate it in angles, curves etc ‌.. The Group discussions help us to improve. I have also learned in this course that philosophy is present in architecture The use of metaphor and poetry is useful in the process of creation. We must avoid the obvious. We must always try to do our best without succumbing to our desire and fears of perfection. It’s a great lesson of Self-confidence and a great mindset opening.
