Terroir Sense Fronteres

The estate was born in 2016 when Dominik Huber, owner and founder of Terroir al Limit, discovered a high-altitude parcel of old Garnacha vines, located in a natural amphitheatre of red clay Free from the regulations in Priorat, Dominik and his talented winemaker, Tatjana Peceric, set about crafting pure, sensual wines from this great yet untapped terroir.

The ethos at Terroir Sense Fronteres exudes a Burgundian sensibility, with whole bunches, indigenous yeasts and no mechanical interactions As Dominik himself explains: “the goal… is to produce wines of infusion rather than extraction, thereby emphasizing elegance, rather than the typical heaviness” Over the last 5 years, they have fine tuned their approach: from the 2021 vintage all the reds are 100% Garnacha, and all wines are vinified in cement and stainless steel. The results are plain to see. Not only is the range a joy to taste, but Terroir Sense Fronteres sits comfortably alongside Spain’s greatest wines. They achieve the purity and finesse sought by the world’s greatest winemakers. We invite you to discover these beguiling wines for yourself.

As the exclusive UK importer, Armit Wines is proud to present the new vintage releases from Terroir Sense Fronteres, Montsant.

2021Brisat Literally meaning ‘skin fermented’ in Catalan, Brisat is dry white 100% Granacha Blanca. For texture and complexity, half of the grapes are vinified for 5 7 days on the skins, while the other half are directly pressed in whole bunches with wild yeast in Inox tanks. Both batches then undergo 6 8 months of aging, also in Inox. With a refreshingly low ABV and a dedication to organic farming, this is a rare entry-level white that speaks of and for the region of Monstant.

Garnacha thrives on a plateau of pink clay and gypsum, 600 meters up the Figuera mountain. The old bush vines range from 40 80 years of age. These cooler, late ripening sites give the variety terrific elegance and purity. The grapes are vinified for up to 10 days in cement tanks, and then aged a further 8 months in cement. The cool Grenache fruit radiates elegance and altitude.

2019GuixVermell

“The aromatics here are incredible, it's intoxicating and perfumed with notes of violets, lilies and blood orange peel, really showy, elegant and complex They believe this is where they want to go with this vineyard and wine, they picked the grapes at exactly the right moment, full of flavors and aromas while keeping the alcohol relatively low. This has a beautiful tannic structure, that seems fragile but with lots of energy. Incredibly elegant and harmonious ” Wine Advocate

Guix Vermell is the wine that started it all. Els Montalts is a tiny 4hectare vineyard that sits 800 metres above sea level. The 45 year old Garnacha vines that thrive there show an unparalleled beauty and finesse. Vinification and aging take place in Italian terracotta amphoras, maintaining a consistent and natural connection with the clay from vine to bottle Maceration of whole clusters lasts 7 8 days, lending subtle oxidative touches to the wine, along with a signature minerality. After fermentation, the wines are further aged in the same amphorae for up to 6 months to ultimately reveal an unparalleled expression of the Montsant terroir. Guix Vermell offers a wild ride of tension and complexity.
