Pork is one the center of many celebrations, especially the whole pig which is roasted on an open pit, its skin crackling and turning burnished brown. But are you struggling just to cook your favorite steak or stuffed pork recipe? In these difficult times, saving money could be at the top of everybody’s priority list. Pork Carnitas Ingredients 1 3-lb. boneless pork shoulder, cut into 2-inch chunks, trimmed of excess fat 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon chili powder 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano 1 large onion, quartered 3 cloves garlic Preparation Sprinkle pork with salt, chili powder, cumin and oregano. Place in a slow cooker along with onion and garlic. Cover and cook on low until meat is tender and falling apart, about 6 hours. Shred pork and serve hot.
