Miami Beach JCC

An update from Paul Frishman, M. Ed., CEO Miami Beach JCC April 30, 2020 Dear Miami Beach JCC Members, I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. This communication is to give you an update on our agency, as we eagerly await the day that we can once again gather at the Galbut Family Miami Beach JCC on the Simkins Family Campus. Our JCC leadership is now beginning to strategically plan for new procedures along with a potential timetable for when that can happen. Please know that we are gathering many recommended "best practices" from experts around the country, and are guided by information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Health Department, and state & local authority guidelines. That said, our professional staff remains fully dedicated to planning for this re-opening, as well as our upcoming summer programming that includes: Camp Klurman, our Kotzen Aquatics Center and Sol Stern Dock usage, Wellness and Fitness activities, Sports & Gymnastics, Adult & Cultural Arts programming, and so much more. There will be many new safety components implemented, such as upgraded facility cleaning/sanitization protocols, new social distancing usage patterns, health-checking entry procedures, smaller groupings, enhanced member washing stations, added anti-bacterial dispensers, and more. The safety of our members, guests, and staff will always continue to be our highest priority. If you want more specific details and registration information regarding our Summer Camp Klurman, visit www.mbjcc.org/camp. In the meanwhile, we continue to provide wonderful "virtual" programming opportunities to stay connected. We are tremendously proud of the current assortment of activities that can be found online at www.mbjcc.org/stayconnected. These offerings include nine different program areas with over 25 live classes per week, along with holiday celebrations and general COVID-19 resources. The member-usage numbers and overall feedback has been outstanding – We are proudly staying connected! We are hopeful too that we can continue to count on your membership support through May to sustain our agency during this challenging time. We are grateful to the 75% of our families that have continued to do so. As a reminder, there are three options: MEMBERSHIP DUES 1. Your membership dues for the MBJCC will continue to support the critical work, inclusive mission, and professional staff of the MBJCC as a tax-deductible donation. 2. If you are not able or willing to make these payments, you may freeze your membership at no cost, and reactivate your membership with no penalty when the building reopens. 3. You may also decide to pre-pay future Membership Dues to help support our agency. Please contact Nicole Linares (nicolel@mbjcc.org) if you choose option 2 or 3. Additionally, if you have any questions at all regarding camp registration, classes and/or credits, please feel free to reach out to our registrar Maia Perez at maia@mbjcc.org. On behalf of our entire MBJCC Board of Directors and Professional Staff Team, I thank you for your on-going support and love for our Miami Beach JCC. We all look forward to seeing you back “on campus” soon at our home on Pine Tree Drive when the authorities deem it safe to be re-opened B’Shalom, Paul Frishman, M. Ed. Miami Beach JCC Closing In Response to COVID-19

March 15, 2020 Dear Members, We are writing to let you know that with your best interest in mind, and also that of the overall health of our Miami Beach JCC community, we have made the difficult decision to close the Miami Beach JCC at 6 pm today, March 15 until further notice. We want to be clear that this is a precautionary measure – as there have been no known cases of Coronavirus identified within our Miami Beach JCC membership. We are taking this step because we are listening to community health & medical experts who are advising us that this is best practice at this time. Additionally, we have been consulting with local authorities, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, JCC Association and other South Florida Jewish agencies. Our MBJCC professional staff is seeking ways to currently engage and connect with our membership during this crisis. The agency is also working hard to support our amazing staff at this incredibly difficult and uncertain time. You already know the extraordinary dedication of the professional staff, instructors, coaches, trainers and countless others who are the lifeblood of this organization. We will do all that we can to support them, and to make it possible for them to be back in place the moment our doors reopen. At this time, we will not be able to issue refunds for March membership or program services. Please know that we are grateful for your investment in the MBJCC and do not take it for granted. We will continue to communicate with you in the coming days as we determine our next steps. Your patience is appreciated while we work to prioritize health and safety, reorganize operations, and plan for the new realities we will face upon reopening. Above all, the well-being of our members, guests and staff is our highest priority. We are confident that we will come out of this unprecedented situation stronger and ready to continue serving our Miami Beach Jewish and overall community in innovative and meaningful ways. “Chazak Chazak” – we move forward in this very challenging time with “Strength”. For additional information, please visit www.cdc.gov or floridahealth.gov. Sincerely, Paul Frishman, M. Ed Chief Executive Officer
