INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO 2016

Architecture firm focused on the user experience in the built environment

Created in 2006, through the partnership of the architects Jacksson Depoli and Michelle Schneider, the firm is based on the creation of the best architectural solution combined to the satisfaction of its customers, valuing good architecture. Over the years, the firm has transformed. In 2013, the architect Vivian Brune and the engineer Jeferson Oliveira joined the team, and therewith, a decision was taken that changed the initial operation of the firm and work process logic: the organization branched out into four sectors – architectural design, interior design, engineering and construction management. With this format the firm got completed, being able to meet better the expectations of the local market. In order to manage this multidisciplinary work, Arqbox sought to form a team that is constantly updated within new systems and technology tools in construction and architecture. The firm has selected the BIM system technology, a tool with clear growth in the international market, which gives a greater support to the expectations of offering a good final product.

We see architecture as the end result of a whole process of design and execution, from the initial concept studies to the building materialization. This work method is continually under development. Besides the essential principles of architecture, such as urban context, function (utilitas), structure (firmitas), spatial quality and aesthetics (venustas), Arqbox combines knowledge about sustainability and other digital tools for environmental studies to add value to the projects. This implies in innovative projects, well-designed and that certainly will better support a better construction. Arqbox values the use of current resources in design and technology. The idea is to conceive a project that lasts, a timeless project. We know the difficulties and expectations set at the beginning of a project, and for this reason we respect and immerse ourselves in the creative process, aiming satisfaction and economy on construction and maintenance. We combined all design services in a single firm to achieve maximum efficiency, that is, to deliver a 100% complete and correct project, avoiding failures during the work progress.

iEA OFFICE Curitiba | Brazil | 2016 Office Interior

Proposal for an office room that should express the contemporary and creative character of the company, also in its interior design. The furniture was developed into detail combining wood and metal. The simplicity of the formal design is complemented with attention to the detail. The layout sought a flexible space, where the tables, which are supported over a base furniture module, can slide to the sides to adapt the space as needed. This base module works as well as a resting area with futon seats. The kitchen wall and rest area wall are composed of large white board panels, where it is possible to make notes and illustrations.

AVV APARTMENT

AVV Apartment Curitiba | Brazil | 2016 Residential Interior

Proposal for a residential apartment, which used the architectural language on the indoor environment, making each furniture part of the apartment architecture, suppressing decorations or unconnected elements. Clarity and simplicity were the goals. This compact apartment houses a young couple, with a busy work and social life as many of our customers. The philosophy “less is more” was taken into consideration, without leaving the functionality aside, which is so necessary in our daily life but is often forgotten in a minimalist style project. In this apartment, we combined simple plastic forms to the functional demand required by the users.

EL TOSTADOR

El Tostador Curitiba | Brazil | 2016 Commercial Interior

This Project was an interesting challenge for our team, as it is a new typology of steak house different from the common pattern found in the market. The owner’s idea was to refer to the image of fire, symbolizing the basic element of our food. Therefore, in an analogy to the fire, the material chosen was wood, combustible material most used in the world. All the furniture was designed to promote visual, tactile and olfactory contact to the user. The arrangement of the pieces of wood along the counter and panels has about 10 mm intervals, creating an illusion to a stock of logs. This pieces are made of pine, with a not rectified cut by chainsaw, before the usual rectification and treatment for commercial sale. This handling gives a more natural appearance to the material. Other strong element to the space is the fire, projected on the barbecue grill on the typology of a parrilla uruguaya. This element is located in a strategic point so that it is visible from the store entrance. Continuing the same rustic language, the butcher has white tiles, similar to the ones of old warehouses. The walls are covered by chalk illustrations, as the chalkboards of old meat houses, making possible to change the communication daily, according to the fresh products available.

The room aims the renovation of the space while maintaining the traditional values and sober characteristics of the foundation direction, but with a contemporary language. The choice for noble materials as wood, polished stone and the existing granite floor guided the design concept. The central implementation of the reception desk, in a triangular shape, guides visitors and users from both entrances to the elevator hall. The entrance wall received a graphic panel that presents chronologically the history of the institution, made of a composition of small photos and facts boards that together, make up a large illustrative panel.

BOX HOUSE INTERIOR

Box House Interior Curitiba | Brazil | 2014 Residential Interior

Interior design for the Box House, residence designed by Arqbox and whose design has been published in national and international websites. Amplitude and integration were demands by the customer, and the ground floor reflects this desire in the best possible way. The garage access to the kitchen is via a staircase that is hidden by one of the kitchen cabinet doors. This enabled the creation of a panel on the kitchen background, that it is fully integrated to the living and dining room. A kitchen counter in two levels spatially divide the space of the living room and kitchen, which is complemented by a barbecue area. The furniture arrangement facilitates circulation and use, promoting visual permeability from every point of these spaces. Bedrooms have minimal furniture required by the client, who values the practicality and spatial fluidity.

HUB CURITIBA

Hub Curitiba Curitiba | Brazil | 2011 Institutional Interior

The first Hub was born in 2005 in London and, since then, entrepreneurs have replied the concept worldwide. In Curitiba, the Hub opened its doors in 2011 and its design was conceived through a different design process. Through meetings with already registered members and guests, all participants took part in the creation process, in which people could give their opinion and elect the function of each room of the building. The reuse of materials, which leave their primary function to turn into another type of use, is an alternative example of interior design concept, that was applied as on the use of fruit boxes, which were transformed into shelves or cabinets, and industrial wood pallets that compound furniture pieces. The contemporary language and the use of recyclable materials in the decoration complement the project.

AEP Apartment

AEP Apartment Pato Branco | Brazil | 2008 Residential Interior

Project for an apartment renovation, located in the interior of Paranå, for a couple without children. The 315 m² property had walls without plastering or painting and old wooden wainscotings. Some walls were demolished to integrate rooms, and other were built in order to better organize the internal space. From the area diagnosis and the customer profile study, the interior design project sought to a total renovation of the apartment. The living and dining rooms were designed to welcome guests, in a broad and integrated space with a more dramatic lighting and refined materials, as the travertine marble panel that almost completely covers one wall. On another wall, a large bar/buffet closet made of sliding doors can be hidden when closed, with the appearance of a large wooden panel. The insertion of a fireplace made the space more comfortable and inviting. Other rooms follow the same design language, such as the home theater, in the center of the apartment, kitchen, dining and bedrooms.
