Inspired by the Berlin Philharmonic, this Auditorium-Conservatory is established as the most important cultural infrastructure of the city, a real Palace of Congress. The Auditorium-Conservatory is defined in a landscape dominated by great beauty: the ‘Alto de San Jaime’, which discerns to the east and west the ‘Lagunas de La Mata’ and Torrevieja, essential parts of the Natural Park of the same name.

Torrevieja Municipal Auditorium The project is located next to a place of landscape interest in the ‘Alto de San Jaime’ that is 70 metres above sea level. It´s a lighthouse which dominates the town of Torrevieja and, to the east and west, the two salt lakes that historically have been the source of wealth of the city. The design includes the insertion, within a large landscaped area of 95.665m², of a centre which is divided into two main areas. The Auditorium has a symphonic room for 1,450 spectators and a chamber music room with a capacity of 385, included in a volume of elliptical plan with 75mx48m in size. There is a hall around both halls, adapting to slope of the ground and creating a transitional space between outside and inside. It´s a permeable and translucent building open to the landscape with a glass exterior façade which allows visually communicate the landscape with the interior. The Conservatory is located in the Northeast of the Auditorium, differed from the volumes that are organized around a communication hub. Morphologically, a building pattern is used similar to college or universities as it consists of a series of scattered pieces of one and two levels, connected between by common spaces and gardens, both outdoor and indoor.
