Berita Mediacorp reported on the seminar by Shaykh Muhammad Al-Yaqoubi, and the launch of his latest book titled “Refuting ISIS” in Malay.
Minister Masagos Zulkifli attended the book launch at Singapore Islamic Hub (SIH) on 27 October 2018. Vice Chairman (RRG) Ustaz Dr Mohamed Ali said that the book was not just important for the understanding of ISIS, but as a whole helped the community to better understand extremist teachings and problematic ideologies.
Shaykh Al-Yaqoubi also delivered a lecture titled “Contemporary Threats and Challenges in a Muslim Community and the Role of Singapore Asatizah Today” attended by 140 asatizah. He touched on issues such as the rise of extremism, islamophobia and radicalism among Muslim youths.

Section 375(4) of the Penal Code, granting legal immunity to men who rape their wives, is set to be repealed. This is one of the 169 recommendations made by a committee conducting the most extensive review of the Penal Code since 2007.
The committee was tasked with modernising the Penal Code's provisions and principles. It is cochaired by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Indranee Rajah and Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Mr Amrin Amin, and includes judges, lawyers, academics and senior policemen.
