The first intake of the Postgraduate Certificate on Islam in Contemporary Societies (PCICS) programme will take place in April 2020

Mufti engaged 130 graduating students Singapore’s socio-religious landscape is changing and becoming more complex, and hence future asatizah will need to gear up with the necessary skills and possibly play other roles to guide the community in tackling new challenges. These

Mufti Dr Fatris and a few senior asatizah had visited Egypt, Jordan and Malaysia, where they had the opportunity to meet the students. The engagements were insightful as students discussed contemporary religious matters that impact the community. The students also acknowledged the key role they will have to play in addressing complex religious issues that arise within the community once they have stepped into the socio-religious sector.

Dr Fatris also shared how the asatizah institution is a crucial partner in the social and

economic

transformation

of

Singapore,

and

how

their

As part of their journey to become the next generation of asatizah, these students will form the first intake of the Postgraduate Certificate on Islam in Contemporary Societies

Medan Attack, a reminder On 13 November, a 24-year-old suicide bomber blew himself up in a carpark at a police station in Indonesia’s city of Medan in North Sumatra. The bomber, a student born in Medan, was seen sneaking into the police headquarters during a security check

as a large crowd was entering the compound. It was reported that

the crowd were applying for clearance letters from the police – a requirement to join the civil service, which is currently open for admission.

The attacker was wearing a jacket and carrying a big backpack when he blew himself up in a carpark near the building where the certificates of clearance were being processed. Six people were injured.

This attack serves as a crucial reminder that it is important to stay vigilant and to be prepared at all times.

With the holiday season and school holidays approaching, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has advised Singaporeans to take necessary precautions

to deal

with accidents, natural disasters or terrorist attacks. Individuals are advised to stay connected with family and friends when overseas. Building cohesiveness in the workplace can also help staff to stay connected when overseas as employers and

Building a loving community that uplifts one another starts with educating children. In this music video, a father, played by singer-actor Syarif, leads by example to teach his son, Umar, values that are synonymous with Prophet Muhammad’s.

The scenes in the video are based on Prophet Muhammad’s sunnah. Inspired by Prophet Muhammad’s mercy and compassion towards children, Syarif plays and interacts with Umar happily.

How to love Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. By Ustaz Muhammad Abdul Mateen Bin Hisham

Loving the Prophet s.a.w is a natural feeling that flows within the heart of a believer. This love is considered a virtue and a condition for every believer, as mentioned in the Hadith: "Whoever actively observes my Sunnah, then he has loved me. And whoever loves me, shall be with me in Paradise." (Hadith by Imam Tirmizi)

Therefore, a sincere love will bear the fruition of emulation. Similarly, the other way around, following the footsteps of the Prophet s.a.w should be on the basis of love. Click to find out the 4 ways to help us express our love for Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

Bolehkah kita menyertai sambutan perayaan agama lain? Sesungguhnya Allah sentiasa menghitung segala sesuatu.”
