pecializing in producing and managing events from every angle of both entertainment and artistic industries, Opus Eventi caters its esteemed services to English, Hispanic and French markets from every corner of the globe. In 2015, – under the direction of the international event promoter Johnessco Rodriguez – Opus Eventi has the honor to present, as part of its repertoire (on production), three of the top events: the sixth edition of ART MONACO; the special edition of ART IBIZA; and the first edition of MC ART Miami. We all know the number of contemporary art shows has increased in the past two years worldwide. Unfortunately, not all emerging shows are capable of providing value in both sales and prestige to the exhibitors and partners supporting them. That is why ART MONACO and ART IBIZA focus on keeping an exclusive by invitation policy. An international exposure, however, guarantees the participation of VIP personalities, potential buyers and exhibitions. Monaco is one of the most prestigious places in Europe and one of the most coveted markets in the world. With its prosperous lifestyle, ceaseless flow of golden champagne and multi million pound yachts gleaming in the Monte Carlo harbor, Monaco breathes glamour. That is why Art Monaco is all about quality rather than quantity and is renown today as THE ONLY international attended contemporary art fair in the French Riviera. Its own style and image differentiate from the other 275 art shows produced worldwide since 2009. A VIP reception will kick off the event, followed by three full days of vernissage-style exhibits open to the public with a few private showings. “Art Monaco 2015 will be bigger and better; some highlights this year include a special presentation of a never-before-seen curated selection of masterpieces attributed to the controversial American Painter JACKSON POLLOCK (19121956), who was a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. Those paintings were kept in a private collection for over 50 years. Also, to be showcased for exhibition and sale are some original bronze cast sculptures from the man who is widely regarded as the most famous artist of the Italian Renaissance, MICHELANGELO di Lodovico Buonarroti (1475–1564). Among his works are “David” and “Saint Peters Pieta” statues.” Johnessco Rodriguez – Fair Director.

Stephanie Holznecht is originally from the southeast coast of England. She immigrated to the United States at the age of nineteen and attended University upon arrival, obtaining a BA in Graphic Design and Fine Art. For 10 years Stephanie worked as a graphic designer and art director, leaving to pursue a career in professional art. Stephanie’s current artistic style has changed dramatically from earlier years, moving from realism to a purely abstract artist. With abstract painting she is inspired to let go and free herself to feel art in a totally different manner, reaching levels of emotional strength that far exceeded her expectations as a painter. Stephanie’s main focus has been in using fluid acrylic paint. A challenging medium, that guarantees a different result with each painting she creates. She has had great success using this medium and her unique layering technique. Stephanie invests in the creation of a piece of art to convey what she feels inside: her thinking, her emotions, her life, her essence and her soul. Stephanie’s goal is to always evoke some emotion from the viewer. There should always be something there for others to be able to read and draw their own conclusions. www.scholznecht.com sholznecht@gmail.com

Layers of chipped paint, rusted metals, the raw beauty Mother Nature creates over time, these and so much more entwined with my manufacturing background spark new ideas within her. Sabina is a self taught full-time artist with a passion to create and capture a true beauty of art in each painting, with the hopes in making a happy escape for the viewer. 12 • Art & Beyond • Summer Edition 2015

Helen Kagan, PhD Coming from a family of scientists, Helen’s always been fascinated by the left and right brain relationship. A holistic therapist and artist, she’s been developing her unique technique and style as “Healing Arts” which reflects her own deep introspective view on life, a desire to bridge realities and heal the Past. Helen Kagan, PhD. was born in a cold Siberian winter in what then was the USSR. She grew up in a Communist State where oppression and control were a daily reality. In 1991 her quest for freedom led Helen to the US, whereto she brought her Jewish heritage, a couple of graduate degrees, and an unending thirst to explore the World and its meaning. Mainly self-taught Helen’s been painting for as long as she remembers herself, since 2005 does it professionally. Her canvases are influenced by impressionism and expressionism and, the spiritual messages - being on your Journey, going towards the Light, following your Path, self-reflection, awareness of ‘Here and Now’, and of course ‘j’oie de vivre’! - are always present in her art, where she’s integrating the Fine Art and the Art of Healing. If you are a seeker on a Quest, or just trying to find answers to quintessential questions like - Who we are? Why we are here? Where are we going? - then you might find very rewarding to meditate with Helen’s paintings. They are better experienced

Jim Lively is a Resident Artist and Wine Sommelier at LuminArte Gallery in Dallas, Texas. His works have been recognized in numerous juried competitions and publications. He was named to the 2013, 2014 and 2015 list of Art Tour International Magazine’s Top 60 Masters of Contemporary Art (www.arttourinternational.com). In addition, he has participated in several group and a solo exhibitions across North America and in Europe. Jim has published four books containing images of his art including two novels. Whether portrayed in the abstract, realism or somewhere in between, Jim’s work is most influenced by the attractive, unattractive and sometimes humorous components of contemporary culture. His figurative and surreal works tend to focus upon interesting juxtaposition of images which share the same canvas. Jim likes to challenge the viewer to question how these images relate to one another. On the other hand, his abstract paintings reflect culture through the use of texture, intersecting lines, color shading and often text. The latter part of 2013, he ventured into the single most experimental aspect of his professional career as an artist. This experiment consisted of incorporating actual wine into his paintings. What began as an experiment has morphed into a long term commitment to perfecting the use of wine in art. Art and wine have for years been intertwined in art exhibitions and events around the world. Wine is an essential component to enjoying and experiencing art. Jim thought why not take the final leap and incorporate wine directly into his paintings. In August of 2014, Jim thought it only appropriate that he take steps to enhance his knowledge and understanding about wine in general. Towards this end, he completed the requisite course to be certified as a Wine Sommelier. LuminArte Gallery: www.luminarte.com • www.jimlivelyart.com

Silvana LaCreta Ravena is a Brazilian-born artist who moved to the Twin Cities in 2006. She was educated as a psychologist and also holds degrees in art therapy, art history and a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts. Since she established her studio in Minnesota, she has exhibited regularly in galleries and art centers throughout the country. She has gallery representation in four states including Minnesota, and her work has been featured in TV art shows and art publications in the US and Europe. The connections between psychology and art have been the constant subject of Silvana’s paintings. She became fascinated with this topic during her practice as a clinical psychologist – an experience that helped her infuse her art with principles based on different lines of thought in psychology. Since she moved to Minnesota, she has centered her focus exclusively on painting, making it her way of stimulating people’s psychological dynamics. The intention of Silvana’s work is to encourage people to creatively question what they are seeing and to make contact with their innermost being. Art is a way of awakening perception by addressing the senses directly, allowing better conditions to facilitate the communication between the person and his/her deeper self. www.silvanaravena.com sillacreta@aim.com

BIRTH OF VENUS. Acryl and Gouache on Canvas, 100 cm x 70 cm

The Fabulous Personages of Rafat The artist Rafat inhabits a realm of magic that exists apart from the usual concerns of the mainstream art world. Her fantastic realm is filled with figurative enigmas and fanciful personages. Their demeanor is as fully fanciful as the beings dreamt up by Paul Klee, Victor Brauner and other masters of anatomical anomalies. All of Rafats picorial dramas are enacted against a black background that makes her colours glow all the more vividly besides suggesting nocturnal atmospheres that add to the mystery of her compositions. Indeed, it is Rafats unequaled ability to present us with the outlandish projects of her fertile imagination and make them inexplicably believable that makes her work so thoroughly enjoyable.

18 • Art & Beyond • Summer Edition 2015

These where excerpts from the article, Bernard Katz wrote in 2003 about an exhibition of Rafat in New York. Every picture she painted was a part of her soul, like another facet of a diamond. Rafat passed away in 2013 and my duty as her daughter is to present her art to an audience which honors her talent and allows her to live on through her paintings. In loving memory. “I am engrossed in those intense images delving into abstraction of the soul. The more involved I become in the work the more intense the images. I grew more interested in the contradictions, extreme expressions and the feelings not shown in a moment that underlies a human context. More than merely a snapshot my aim is for the viewer to relate to the emotional circumstance of the image and to draw out of the viewer their own personal story and feelings in the current situation and those drawn from memory. To achieve that “I have been there” or “I am there” instance. In this era of the unfocused and where images move quickly from one instant to the next my aim is to hold the viewer’s attention to allow for a deeper emotional involvement to the work.”

GK Brock GK Brocks’ art is a spiritual experience, the creation of scriptural based pieces by leveraging the power of visual color, space and form while correlating biblical scripture that inspire internal/external/self. His work has evolved from a true spiritual revelation, a gift from God following head trauma and is the central attribute of my work or resume. Each piece is a creation of personnel visionary interpretation that provides stimulation to the eye while enhancing wisdom and faith of ones heart by Gods word illustrating partial meaning of that painting or sculpture. The primary role of his art is to provide clarity and insight into ones spiritual awareness by visual and intellectual means. Raquel Rub Red is the color of extremes. It’s the color of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure. Our prehistoric ancestors saw red as the color of fire and blood – energy and primal life forces – and most of red’s symbolism today arises from its powerful associations in the past. This Artistic expression of a red bike conjures emotions of audacity, bravery, creativity, and romance. When assessing the sculptural work of Peruvian artist RAQUEL RUB, we can only wonder ... “how a delicate and fine woman is able to dominate with such mastery the hardness of marble, transforming it into fine art pieces? Raquel gets so soft and sinuous with details of rustic finish, that invite a visual caress of forms; abstraction of the shapes are a constant that speak of the spiritual meaning of the stone, silent witness of eternity to which man renders tribute. The artist shows us this time that the force of passion is certainly very important in life and especially in art, in the language of the soul, and much better if, it delivers an exquisite execution. This encounter with the art will bring us many satisfactions.”

Sara Swan The human form, body language, costume and fashion characterize my art. I often draw from my imagination, or work from my own photos of people who allow me to take their picture. Pastels, oil colors and oil sticks are my favorite mediums. I tend to work at a large scale, sometimes as large as life size. I like to have a balance of very bright colors, mostly reds and oranges, and more neutral and subdued colors in each piece that I create. At the moment, my art tends to be female-centric. www.saraswan.com • www.barebrush.com

MARUKA CARVAJAL Art is for me a way of expressing and conveying emotions that cannot be described with words or other means. Space, color, shape composition – everything I see that impresses me, is part of who I am, and I want to share it. My artwork is influenced by many years of exposure to multicultural environments, my love for art, my architectural background and my passion for colors. My inspiration originates in my memories from past life experiences while living in different cities in Bolivia, Brazil, Singapore and the US. The geometrical style of my work is characterized by bold color and fragments of buildings with distorted shapes and the strong determination of different types of contour dark lines. I bring to life those subtle and undefined geometrical shapes that spontaneously emerge from city scenes. The structure and composition of my work is defined with the use of lines that drive me deep trough the space creating the urban settings as I’ve seen around me. www.marukacarvajal.com

Dianna M. Sapara is Canadian artist living in the country, where she gets all her inspirations. Dianna has painted in different mediums almost all her life, and her works can be seen though Canada and the USA. While oil was her choice of medium, she has added encaustic wax to her list of mediums. This 2500 year old ancient art of painting with molten wax intrigues her. She loves the challenge of the unknown, unpredictable, the surprising end result. Dianna intuitively paints, pours, carves, and scrapes – then fuses with a heat gun, iron or blowtorch creating a rich and lustrous painting. www.dsapara.ca 26 • Art & Beyond • Summer Edition 2015

“When I paint I find complete peace: That is what I hope reaches out to others. I believe Creative works have the power to heal through rebalancing life energy, “Chi”, either by touching one’s inner space (providing a key for ‘self- healing’, access to somewhere deep inside, helping to release or unblock stagnated energy) or by rebalancing our energy in our work or living space (art for homes or offices as part of a FengShui project ). In private sittings, through meditation, spiritual inspiration is what I allow to guide the work. To enhance and empower this connection, I ask for the person’s favorite piece of music, Classical, an Aria, something special, sacred to them: I also work with fragrant oils to enhance art work. I always paint from my heart, at times in an almost ‘altered state’, totally lost in the painting. I am grateful and humbled to be able to communicate creatively, a wonderful gift, so I try to do good with it. www.lizzyforrestergallery.com

Roshanak Khalilian @ Art Monaco 2015 Roshanak khalilian’s evoking paintings reflect her interest in different cultures and their interpretations of happiness and life. The long history of gold infuses her work, being a reference to celebrate the hope of mankind anticipated in the course of its history. “For me, Gold is not only the shiny metal that enriches everything it covers and certainly not only the proof of sophistication, wealth and power. It’s tale and significance has enchanted me for many years and is now encapsulate in the essence of my works. My works evoke contrasting and even conflicting feelings and experiences: hope and death, wealth and poverty, joy and sadness, the light and the dark aspects of hope in life. They reflect the ambiguity and fullness of human nature and power of hope”. Within challenging techniques I experiment with abstraction, exploring the significance of gold and its long journey throughout life and history. I attempt to create a luminous atmosphere, to represent hope as the strongest element.” Roshi
