About My goal as an artist is to depict visually the passion of life that Canadian agriculture embodies. The farming community in Canada takes tremendous pride in the beauty and life in our land, my art is a reflection of that spirit. My cow paintings embody what Canadian dairy genetics is about; productive, healthy and strong cows. My focus as an artist is the future of Canadian agriculture. I am interested in depicting art that reflects the passion Canadian farmers have for producing a world class product while taking the best care of their animals. I am proud to have work on permanent display in 4-H Canada’s Museum in Roland, Manitoba, and on the Carp Fairgrounds in Carp, Ontario. I graduated from Queen’s University with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 2014. In 2013, I was the Ottawa Valley Farm Show’s Featured Artist. I have been featured in publications such as The Bullvine and both Progressive Dairyman U.S and Canada Editions.

Subject Matter When sending photos, more is the better. I prefer ones that were professionally taken but if you have a very good quality candid picture, send it ahead. Please be sure to highlight which photos are your favourites and which are the most accurate. Let me know which photos show colouring and personality the best. If you have a particular idea or concept in mind, please send a picture! If you saw an element that another artist did or want a particular style of one of my past paintings or just have some old pictures that you would like to incorporate into the background, please do not hesitate to send them along. Photos should be emailed (emmadotcaldwell@gmail.com).
TimeLine On average, a commission will take approximately 100 hours of painting. The actual time from receiving the commission will depend on the time of year as well as the materials used. Time has to be allotted for things like drying.
Materials My preferred surface is cradled birch panel. I prefer the wood panels because they are sturdier, less prone to warping and there is no danger of the canvas ripping/denting. If you prefer would prefer the texture of stretched canvas, please specify. Sizes are listed below, however it should be used as a guide. I would be more than happy to go bigger. I work in both oil and acrylic mediums.

Pricing When you commission a work of art, you’re paying for more than just the physical painting. On average, one painting takes around 100 hours to paint. The cost covers those hours plus the prepatory stages of designing your unique composition, compiling references, and the materials used. Time is taken to properly prepare the painting, and after completion, I then seal it to protect it from dust, light and time. I use high quality artist materials to ensure that your painting will not only last hundreds of years, but look the same as it did the day it was signed.

Guarantee If you are not happy with the final painting, please return it and I will give you a complete refund. I would hate for someone to have a painting that they weren’t thrilled with!!! If I feel that I cannot do a successful painting for you (for example: the photos are not clear enough), I will tell you before you put a down payment on the painting. It is as important to me to do a great job as it is to you. We will work together as a team.
