Costumes
IN THE COURTYARD
Cosplayers and photographers gather outdoors where there is no red carpet or company logos
From the photographer’s point of view, trying to take pictures of cosplayers on the Show Floor is the worst. The red carpet throws off the color. There is not enough light. There are too many people. The person you are stopping might only want to be shopping at that point. Heading outside is a clearer signal that you are open to posing and talking about your costume.
In 2015, anyone on the sidewalk along 11th Avenue could see what was happening down below which was mostly cosplayers milling about and attendees smoking. Future cons would see this space used for more food trucks and an entry point. —MV
