ORNAMENTA® ha voluto rendere omaggio al capofila della Pop Art americana con questa collezione denominata ARTWORK in cui le superfici di Marble, Brick e Wood vengono reinterpretate enfatizzando, come in una “caricatura”, i tratti che contraddistinguono ognuna di esse. Le caricature di “Artwork” prendono vita su una base bianca di gres porcellanato, il foglio, su cui vengono “caricati” i tratti caratteristici di ogni superficie. Il nero ed i colori sono applicati mediante una stesura perfetta, rigida, senza sbavature e al contempo la materia usata garantisce un’alta resistenza. Marble, Brick e Wood possono essere posati “stand-alone”, ovvero singolarmente, sia a pavimento che a rivestimento, sfruttando i moduli presenti nel programma per avere diverse varianti di posa, oppure “random”, combinandoli insieme a due a due o in un patchwork” totale. “Pop Art is a way of liking things”

ORNAMENTA® wanted to pay tribute to the leader of American Pop Art with this collection named ARTWORK in which the surfaces of Marble, Brick and Wood are reinterpreted emphasizing, as in a “caricature”, traits that distinguish each of them. The caricatures of “Artwork” come to life on a white basis of gres porcelain, the paper, on which are “loaded” the characteristic features of each surface. Black and other colours are applied with a perfect print, without smudgings and the colour glazed ensures an high-resistance at the same time. Marble, Brick and Wood can be set “stand-alone” both on wall and on floor, by using the diﬀerent modules, or “random”, by matching themselves together in pairs or by composing a “total patchwork”.

MARBLE Il marmo perde il classico “fotorealismo” da imitazione e le sue venature “disegnate” sono volutamente enfatizzate per darne una rilettura in chiave più contemporanea.

POP Marble loses the classic “photorealism” by imitation and its drawn veins are purposely emphasized to give a contemporary re-interpretation.

Questa nuova forma d’arte popolare, in netta contrapposizione con il carattere ostico dell’espressionismo astratto, rivolge la propria attenzione agli oggetti, ai miti e anche ai linguaggi della società dei consumi e si è posta la sfida di cambiare dai vincoli delle vecchie tradizioni artistiche includendo l’immaginario dalla cultura popolare come la pubblicità e le notizie. Il materiale oggetto dell’espressione artistica è, a volte, rimosso visivamente dal suo contesto noto, isolato, e in combinazione con materiale estraneo. Il concetto di pop art si riferisce non tanto all’arte stessa, quanto piuttosto agli atteggiamenti che la determinano. Atta a criticare il consumismo che si diﬀondeva negli anni sessanta, la pop art respinge l’espressione dell’interiorità e dell’istintività e guarda, invece, al mondo esterno, al complesso di stimoli visivi che circondano l’uomo contemporaneo: il cosiddetto “folclore urbano”. È infatti un’arte aperta alle forme più popolari di comunicazione: i fumetti, la pubblicità, i quadri riprodotti in serie.

This new form of folk art, in contrast with the tough character of Abstract Expressionism, turns its attention to objects, myths and even the language of the consumer society and has set itself the challenge of changing the constraints the old artistic traditions including imagery from popular culture such as advertising and news. The material object of the artistic expression is, at times, visually removed from its known context, isolated, and in combination with foreign material. The concept of pop art refers not so much to the art itself, but rather the attitudes that determine it. Apt to criticize the consumerism that spread in the sixties, pop art rejects the expression of interiority and istintivity and looks, instead, to the outside world, to complex visual goads that surround modern man: the so-called “ urban folklore “. It is indeed an art open to the most popular forms of communication: the comics, advertisements, paintings reproduced in series

L’arancione attira l’attenzione dello spettatore senza però essere invadente come il rosso. E’ spesso considerato più accogliente e invitante, e meno aggressivo.

Nel design, il giallo brillante può dare un senso di felicità e allegria. I gialli chiari solitamente danno una sensazione più contenuta della felicità rispetto ai gialli più luminosi. Gialli scuri e gialli color oro a volte possono sembrare antichi e possono essere utilizzati in progetti dove è richiesto un senso di permanenza.

Orange draws the viewer’s attention without being intrusive like red. It is often considered more friendly and inviting, and less aggressive.

In design, the bright yellow can give a sense of happiness and joy. Usually light yellows give a lesser feeling of happiness than the brightest yellows. Dark yellows and gold yellows can sometimes seem like ancient and can be used in projects that require a sense of permanence. 14 | 15

BLUE Il blu, in Inghilterra, è spesso associato con la tristezza. Il blu è ampiamente utilizzato tuttavia per rappresentare la calma, la responsabilità e la professionalità mentre nel design, l’esatta tonalità di blu scelta ha un enorme impatto sulla percezione dell’illustrazione. Blue, in England, is often associated with sadness. Blue is however widely used to represent calm, responsibility and professionalism, while in the design, the exact shade of chosen blue has a huge impact on the perception of the illustration.

GREEN Il verde ha l’attributo “calmante” del blu ma allo stesso tempo incorpora anche l’energia del giallo. Nel design, il verde può avere un eﬀetto equilibrante e armonizzante ed è molto stabile. E’ opportuno usarlo in quei progetti legati alla ricchezza, alla stabilità, al rinnovamento e ovviamente alla natura. The green has the attribute “calming” of the blue but at the same time also incorporates the energy of yellow. In the design, the green can have a balancing and harmonizing eﬀect and is very stable. And ‘appropriate to use it in those projects related to wealth, stability, renewal and of course the nature.

IVORY L’avorio è un colore calmo, con alcune caratteristiche simili al bianco, anche se ovviamente è un po’ più caldo. Nel web design, l’avorio può dare un senso di eleganza e tranquillità. Se combinato con i colori della terra come l’arancio, può assumere una qualità “terrosa”. Può anche essere usato per schiarire colori più scuri, senza avere la sensazione del netto contrasto qualora si utilizzasse il bianco. Ivory is a calm color, with some characteristics similar to white, although of course it is a bit ‘hotter. In web design, ivory can give a sense of elegance and tranquility. When combined with earthy colors such as orange, it can take on a “earthy” quality. It can also be used to lighten darker colors, without feeling the sharp contrast if you were using the white.

PINK Il colore rosa nasce dalla commistione tra la carica del rosso e la neutralità del bianco e universalmente rappresenta da sempre la dolcezza e la delicatezza. In psicologia il rosa è invece il simbolo della speranza. Si tratta quindi di un colore positivo che incute un certo senso di sicurezza e di ottimismo verso il futuro. Un colore che calma gli istinti primitivi. The pink color comes from the mixture between the power of red and the neutrality of white and universally it always represents the sweetness and delicacy. In psychology, rose is rather a symbol of hope. It is therefore a positive color which inspires a certain sense of security and optimism to the true future. A color that calms the primitive instincts.

BLACK Il nero è comunemente usato in quei design accattivanti oppure molto eleganti. Può essere conservatore o moderno, tradizionale o non convenzionale, a seconda di come viene combinato con gli altri colori. Programma di sette tonalità neutre in gres porcellanato. White, Ivory, Pearl, Taupe, Ashgrey, Grey e Black si combinano con le superfici Ornamenta per neutralizzarne la “forza decorativa”. Basi neutre che si combinano con superfici decorative a diversa tematica e finitura per dare vita a progetti contemporanei in cui decorativismo e minimalismo si fondono a dimostrare che la loro “convivenza” è tutt’altro che impossibile. Cocciopesto Conosciuto come “battuto” o pavimento a “terrazzo”, il cocciopesto, utilizzato fin dall’antica Grecia, ha raggiunto la notorietà in Italia attraverso il dominio romano. Gli abbiamo voluto rendere omaggio qui cercando di rispettare le sue nobili origini in una interpretazione quanto più possibile simile alla realtà combinando la tecnica digitale in HD alla

materia. Il risultato sono quattro colori di base a cui abbiamo abbinato due resine per conferirgli contemporaneità e oﬀrire soluzioni alternative di posa al solo pavimento monocromatico total look. Abbinamenti bicolor o multicolor, miscellanea di superfici e disegni, questo è il cocciopesto dei nostri giorni, che guarda al futuro rispettando il passato.

Also known as “Battuto” or “Terrazzo” floor, the Cocciopesto, used since the ancient Greece, has reached its celebrity in Italy through the roman dominion. We wanted to pay tribute to it trying to respect its noble origins, with an interpretation as close as possible to reality, blending the digital HD technique with the material. The results are 4 base colours where we matched some resins, in order to lend contemporary and oﬀer diﬀerent matching suggestions to the monochromatic floor. Twocoloured or multi-coloured, mixture of surfaces and drawings, this is the Cocciopesto in our time, which is looking at the future but admiring the past.

Antico ma contemporaneo, il cotto variegato rappresenta una eccellenza italiana della pavimentazione nell’area padana del Nord Italia, utilizzato prevalentemente per pavimentare sia case che dimore storiche. Il formato quadrato 25x25 colorato in massa e la combinazione di grafiche marmorizzate realizzate grazie alla tecnologia digitale gli conferiscono un aspetto contemporaneo creando superfici variegate e mai uguali. Superfici che ricordano la più antica tecnica giapponese di marmorizzazione decorativa della carta denominata Suminagashi, mood del momento denominato anche “marble paper”. È questa la peculiarità del “cotto variegato”: i tipici colori delle argille che lo compongono si miscelano insieme formando delle “venature” marmoree.

Ancient but contemporary, the variegated cotto represents an Italian excellence of flooring in the Po Valley of Northern Italy, mainly used to pave both houses and historic dwellings. The square format sized 25x25, full body colored and the combination of marbled graphics created thanks to the digital technology give it a contemporary look, creating Surfaces that resemble of the most ancient Japanese technique of marble decorative paper, called Suminagashi, a mood of the moment also called “marble paper”. This is the peculiarity of “the variegated cotto”: typical colors of clays mixed together forming “marble veins”. 6|7

Ecco la nostra interpretazione su un grande classico come le “cementine idrauliche”. Abbiamo deciso di esplorare la gamma del bianco e del nero con la presenza di un unico colore intermedio per coordinarli. I “non colori” diventano protagonisti di una superficie segnata dallo scorrere del tempo in cui si intrecciano patterns dal linguaggio prevalentemente geometrico. Here is our interpretation of a classic such as hydraulic cement tiles. We decided to explore the black and white range with the presence of a single intermediate color to coordinate them. The “non-colors” become protagonist of a surface marked by time with geometric patterns.

12 patterns decorativi 20×20 in gres porcellanato rettificato sia da pavimento che da rivestimento design by ORNAMENTA®, secondo i trend della moda e dell’Interior Design più attuali nella colorazione black&white. Tutti i moduli possono essere utilizzati “seamless”, senza soluzione di continuità, oppure mixandoli per ottenere patchwork contempoarenei. In GONE la materia porta i segni del tempo che è “passato”, come fosse consumata per realizzare ambienti sofisticati ma informali dall’atmosfera calda e accogliente in abbinamento a materiali grezzi quali legno, acciaio e cemento e arredi d’epoca. Su una palette cromatica neutra, l’interior eclettico trova la sua giusta base, in un mix&match di ispirazioni.

Our “Gone” collection has been made by 12 20x20 black & white ornamental patterns on porcelain and rectified gres, both for wall & floor tiles, designed by Ornamenta, following the current fashion and interior design trends. Each pattern can be used seamlessly or mixed, to create modern patchworks. In “Gone” the tile shows signs of the time, as it were worn out. With a neutral colour palette, in mix&match, interior designers can find their correct base to achieve sophisticated and informal locations, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere; this base could be combined also with coarse material as wood, steel, cement and vintage forniture.

Negli ultimi anni si va via via sempre più affermando l’utilizzo del così detto “parquet industriale”, il cui nome deriva dal fatto che questo tipo di parquet veniva posato per lo più in officine, fabbriche e locali con pavimento particolarmente soggetto a usura. Particolarmente apprezzato dai progettisti per la sua notevole capacità di arredo, dovuta alla caratteristica posa di testa delle lamelle e al peculiare effetto di frammentazione del colore, questo legno risulta perfetto non solo negli spazi commerciali come negozi, hotel, palestre, ristoranti e musei, ma anche nei contesti residenziali più moderni dallo stile metropolitano. Lamelle reinterpreta il parquet industriale mantenendone i vantaggi della resistenza e l’estetica della superficie declinata nei colori più contemporanei, riuscendo a superare gli svantaggi della versione tradizionale legati alla posa laboriosa e ai lunghi tempi di realizzazione.

An industrial wood serving project, declined in a calibrated chromatic scale of 3 colors, from light to dark, 2 sizes.

In recent years the use of socalled “industrial parquet”, is gradually asserting. Its name is due to the habit to lay this type of parquet mostly in workshops, factories and premises with floors particularly subject to wear. This materials is especially appreciated by designers for its remarkable decorating ability, due to the characteristic pose of the headfrom strips and the peculiar eﬀect of fragmentation of color. This wood is perfect, not only in commercial spaces, such as shops, hotels, gyms, restaurants and museums, but also in the most modern residential contexts with a metropolitan style. Lamelle reinterprets the industrial parquet, mantaining the advantages of strength and aesthetics of the surface, in the more contemporary colors, exceeding the disadvantages of traditional version related with the laborious installation and long lead times. 6|7

Ornamento e Delitto è un saggio dell’architetto modernista Adolf Loos del 1908 in cui l’autore ha equiparato l’uso di ornamenti alla fine dell’ottocento e all’inizio del ventesimo secolo in architettura e design con la distruzione della cultura e della società. Loos sentì con forza che l’ornamento non aveva alcun significato o posto nella cultura contemporanea, fino a sostenere che l’ornamento in realtà ostacolasse il progresso della società. In particolare, Loos considerava l’ornamento superfluo come un’epidemia, che contribuiva all’obsolescenza degli oggetti. Sosteneva la semplicità, perché semplici oggetti non vanno mai fuori moda pertanto sarebbero stati apprezzati per tutto il tempo. Ancora oggi, l’interrogativo di Loos sul ruolo dell’ornamento risuona all’interno dell’architettura e delle arti decorative. Gli accademici, i critici, gli studenti, gli artisti e i curatori regolarmente discutono e discutono l’argomento, ponendosi domande come: quale scopo l’ornamento ha nella progettazione di un oggetto? È semplicemente una funzione di stile? L’ornamento da un contributo significativo agli oggetti oggi? La risposta provocatoria di ORNAMENTA è in questa collezione, denominata “MANIFESTO”, in cui l’ornamento è assunto ad assoluto protagonista. Tele dipinte a mano sulle quali l’autore esprime la propria creatività in due formati e cinque colori, sintesi di sperimentazione materica e stilistica.

Ornament and Crime was an essay and a lecture by modernist architect Adolf Loos, that criticizes ornament in art, first given on 21 January 1908 in Vienna. The essay equated the use of ornamentation in late nineteenth and early twentieth century architecture and design with the destruction of culture and society. Loos felt strongly that ornament had no meaning or place within contemporary culture, even going so far as to argue that ornament actually hindered society’s progress. Specifically, Loos viewed superfluous ornament as an epidemic, one that contributed to the obsolescence of objects. He advocated for simplicity, because simple objects never go out of style and therefore would be treasured for all time. Even today, Loos’s questioning of the role of ornamentation still resonates

within the architecture and the decorative arts communities. Academics, critics, students, artists, and curators regularly discuss and debate the topic, asking themselves such questions as: What purpose does ornament serve the design of an object? Is it simply a function of style? Does ornament contribute anything meaningful to objects today? ORNAMENTA’s provocative answer is in this collection, called “MANIFESTO”, in which the ornament was assumed at absolute protagonist. Hand painted canvas on which the author expresses his creativity in two sizes and five colours, synthesis of experimentation on the materials and stylistic fronts.

Artigianalità e tecnologia... quasi un “antitesi” perchè l’accostamento di queste due parole, dal contrasto così forte, spesso, in passato, ha rimandato a risposte che si sintetizzavano nel “vorrei ma non posso”! Estrusione e digitale combinandosi reinventano la tradizione. L’artigianalità unita alla tecnologia “ink” e ai grafismi “handmade” non convenzionali donano “sangue nuovo” al progetto. Comune denomitatore il valore aggiunto dell’unicità.

Handmade and technology... like an “antithesis” because the approach of these two words, with a such a strong contrast had often in the past answers that were summarized in the phrase “I wish but I cannot”! Attese disilluse e sogni non realizzati. Il Cartone a rappresentare il palcoscenico su cui i personaggi scrivono la propria storia, una storia fatta di indiﬀerenza e di convenzioni da sovvertire. Miseria Vs Nobiltà? No! Miseria e Nobiltà. Il linguaggio usato? La Ceramica!!! Le basi “semplici” dell’Avana e del Greggio sono il “palcoscenico” dove è romanzata la storia dei suoi protagonisti che prendono vita in pattern sartoriali a “eﬀetto wallpaper” mediante serigrafie di colore black&white. Abbiamo scelto due formati il 15x45 e il 5x15 per dare la doppia possibilità di utilizzare il materiale sia da pavimento che da rivestimento. La scelta è stata quella di privilegiare un prodotto artigianale con impasti di gres porcellanato

Il terrazzo era il pavimento tipico delle case veneziane del cinquecento, una versione low cost del marmo formata da granulati di marmo e pietra legati assieme dal cemento a formare un composto unico. Modernist oﬀre una contemporanea interpretazione in grès porcellanato nel formato 60x60 in spessore 10 mm.

The terrace was the typical floor of the Venetian houses of the sixteenth century, a low-cost version of marble, made up of marble and stone granules tied together by concrete to form a unique compound. Modernist oﬀers a contemporary interpretation in porcelain stoneware in the 60x60 size, with 10mm thickness.

The terrace we see today is a product in which the granulometry graphically favoured are the ones medium to fine grain.

La parola “ceramica” deriva dalla parola greca KERAMOS che significa “creta o terracotta”. Le piastrelle di ceramica ricoprono un posto unico nella storia. Infatti possono essere annoverate a buon diritto come il primo prodotto ad uso domestico ad associare l’aspetto funzionale e decorativo (fonte: www.laceramicaitaliana.it). Una delle prime piastrelle ad essere prodotta è stata la piastrella “sale e pepe”, un materiale tecnico con una nobile storia alle spalle, che, oggi, acquistando nuove magnitudini in formati 80x80, 40x80, 40x40 in gres porcellanato rettificato colorato a massa, diventa l’ingrediente principale, la “base” su cui prende vita il programma “CUSTOM - MADE” di ORNAMENTA®.

Le fughe cemetizie Ultracolor Plus, sono particolarmente idonee ad un utilizzo residenziale come ad esempio in bagni, cucine, piscine, facciate esterne, balconi e terrazze, ad un utilizzo in ambiente commerciale, come la stuccatura di piastrelle in supermercati, ristoranti, aereoporti e locali pubblici, ma anche nelle pavimentazioni di ambienti commerciali.

Grazie alle loro caratteristiche tecniche, la gamma di riempitivi per fughe epossidiche è particolarmente indicata quando sono richiesti particolari requisiti di igienicità e resistenza agli aggressivi chimici. Sono pertanto utilizzate sia in ambienti residenziali e commerciali, garantendo insieme ai dati prestazionali anche un elevato valore estetico ed assorbimento nullo, sia in tutti gli ambienti industriali, dove sono richieste altissime resistenze chimiche e meccaniche, nonché resistenza agli acidi e agli idrocarburi, come ad esempio nelle pavimentazioni di industrie alimentari (salumifici, oleifici, ecc.).

Thanks to their technical characteristics, the range of grouting materials for epoxy joints is particularly suitable when particulary requirements for hygiene and resistance to aggressive chemicals are required. Il ceppo di gré è una roccia sedimentaria estratta nella provincia di Bergamo, sulla costa nord ovest del lago di Iseo, nel pieno rispetto dell’ambiente. Parte dell’architettura lombarda sino dalla tradizione romana , come materiale edile o elemento decorativo per l’architettura, grazie alle sua durabilità nel tempo ed alla sua resistenza agli agenti atmosferici. Abbinandosi facilmente ad altri materiali, grazie al suo fascino, la rendono apprezzata sia in ambito nazionale, sia internazionale. Ora, diventa parte di ORNAMENTA “NaturalLab”, una nuova esperienza riguardante il mondo dei temi naturali, che riproducono un eﬀetto pietra, in grado di soddisfare ogni stile ed estetica, dal residenziale al contract.

The Ceppo di grè is a sedimentary rock extracted in the province of Bergamo, on the north-western shore of Iseo Lake, in the full respect of the environment. Part of Lombard architectural tradition since Roman times, and its use as a building stone or decorative architectural element, was always considerable thanks to its quality of weather resistance and durability. Approaching easily to other materials, thanks to its understated charm, it is also appreciated in the local and international contemporary. Now it becomes part of ORNAMENTA “NaturalLab”,a sort of new experience regarding themes hispired by nature that reproduce a stone eﬀect capable of satisfying any style and aesthetics and a range of areas too, from residential to contract.

WOOD e WOULD, parole che hanno la stessa assonanza anglosassone. Il “legno” diventa il mezzo su cui “vogliamo” materializzare il nostro IO. è un rimando alla natura, alle origini di ogni cosa e di conseguenza dell’uomo. Ed è proprio l’impronta naturale dell’uomo che si scorge in questo manufatto artigianale di gres porcellanato estruso. Le sue venature e i suoi nodi diventano disegno e texture, con la “morbidezza”, o meglio la “mano”-come si dice nel nostro gergo tecnico- tipici dei prodotti ottenuti per trafila. Insomma... il legno, nella sua naturalezza come fine del nostro “VORREI”.

About me WOOD and WOULD, words that have the same anglo-saxon assonance. The “wood” becomes the through with which “we” materialize our IO. It’ s a return to nature, to the origins of all things, and therefore man. And it is the natural footprint of man that we see in this handmade article of extruded gres porcelain. Its veins and its nodes become design and texture, with the “softness”, or rather the “hand” -as we say in our technical speacking- typical of the products obtained by drawn. Definetely ... the wood in its naturalness as the purpose of our “I WOULD”.

Artigianalità / Craftsmanship Gres porcellanato a tutta massa, ottenuto attraverso il processo di estrusione, che rende ogni singolo pezzo unico e dissimile dagli altri. Un listello con graﬀi distintivi, segni di invecchiamento e tracce di artigianalità tipiche dell’elemento naturale. Full body gres porcelain, obtained through the extrusion process, making each piece unique and dissimilar from others. A tile featuring distinctive scratches, planing, signs of aging and traces of the craftsmanship typical of the natural element.
