Haiti: Master Paintings 1945-1978 Arte del Pueblo is pleased to present 30 master paintings. These works date to the earliest years of the famed Centre d’Art and span over three decades from 1945 to 1978. Every painting in our September 2015 catalog is charged with the universally celebrated creative force of Haitian art. This group of 30 master paintings, gathered from across North America, Europe and the Caribbean, features recognized masterpieces and introduces new consignments of equal caliber. Many of these paintings have been included in important exhibitions at Miami’s Bass Museum, The Brooklyn Museum and Milwaukee Museum of Art.

We invite you to visit our new Midtown Manhattan showroom at 444 West 55th Street. Paintings on view include Hector Hyppolite’s “Woman in Red Dress” exhibited for the first time in the United States since the 1992 Milwaukee Museum of Art: A Haitian Celebration. Our Midtown showroom features several Hyppolites as well as master paintings by 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Haitian artists, including St. Soleil, Cap-Haitien and Metals (by Georges Liautaud, Murat Brierre, Jolimeau and St. Eloi). Cockfight
A New Yorker Magazine writer acquired from Dewitt Peters during her Mardi Gras visit in 1952. Wilson Bigaud dropped off this painting at the Centre d’Art two days prior to when it was purchased.
