Haymarket, Virginia
amantha and John turned their wedding day into a winter wonderland with icy details and beautiful touches of winter. He proposed to her in poem at their favorite poetry club in New York City. It was all caught on tape, and the pastor at their wedding had to honor their love of poetry by turning his entire homily into a poem." - Rebekah

Winter Woodland Fox Bridal Inspiration T
Big Bear, California
he inspiration for this winter woodland styled shoot all started with a Shiba Inu puppy. From there, it grew into a magical, snow-filled celebration of foxes in elegant black and gold.

e had adopted our pup because she looked like a little fox and I always wanted to have a fox as a pet. For a while now I wanted to have my pup in a photoshoot and have her portray a fox, but I wasn’t sure how I would pull it off. Thanks to my collaborative team, we finally made my little fox dream come to life." - Tara 24 | Artfully Wed Winter 2014

Noteworthy Details Black Halter Top Dress: Paired with the custom-made fox ears and wrist cuffs, it contrasts perfectly with the model's red hair. Mr. & Mrs. Fox Plaques: These were DIY with unfinished wooden plaques, stencils, and black and gold paint. Snowy Details: Elements of the snowy surroundings were added to the table as vase filler, etc. Custom Stationery: Black and gold elegance meets subtle fox details on the custom designed invitations, menu and place cards. 26 | Artfully Wed Winter 2014

5 fabulous ideas for
Winter Engagements Though warm weather might be more appealing to some couples for their engagement sessions, we absolutely adore the cozy look of winter sessions! A beautiful backdrop of snow, a roaring fire or a cup of hot cocoa are all elements of a fabulous engagement session during the winter months. Five real couples braved the cold for some adorable photos - here are some of our favorite ideas from their shoots: 1. Enjoy the snow-capped beauty of the mountains and snuggle up with your honey under a warm blanket. 2. Embrace your inner child and go sledding and then warm up with a steaming mug of hot chocolate. 3. Stroll through the snow-lined city streets, take in the holiday window dressings and then square off on the ice wearing your favorite hockey team's jerseys. 4. Lace up your skates and go for a spin at the local ice rink followed by a warming cup of joe. 5. Snowball fight! What's more fun than playing in the snow and pelting your betrothed with snowballs? 28 | Artfully Wed Winter 2014

"T
he stars aligned for Michelle and Erik's engagement session! There’s definitely something incredible that happens when the light, weather, location, the couple, and an engaging and warm photographer fit perfectly. We love winter engagement shoots in the mountains! The snowy landscape in the Colorado mountains facilitates not only great pictures, but a surreal and unique experience. There’s nothing like the quietness that snow brings‌ it absorbs the sound and energy of everyday life and allows you to relax and snuggle close to the one you love." - Jason+Gina

hitney and Mark's engagement was a bit of a stylized winter session with a fire pit and sledding. We had to wait until a big storm hit and then went out that very next day so the snow was still clinging to the trees and the light was just gorgeous!" - Brittany

ayna and Chris had recently added a golden retriever to their family, so they wanted to have photos inside their home, and that's where we started. After we photographed some formal photos with their puppy, we headed off to Scarth Street, a well-known street in downtown Regina. We stepped out of the car to strong wind gusts and ice pellets hitting us in the face. After Scarth Street, we headed over to a local hockey rink where the two sported matching Detroit Red Wings jerseys and centered off from one another." - Genelle

"W
e met Kate & Nick up in Breckenridge at the oh so gorgeous Ice Castles (if you haven’t been, they are definitely a must see) for their engagement session. And although I was almost positive that I had frost bite, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day, and I don’t think I have laughed that hard in so long. I love their humor, I love their affection towards one another, and I love that they hold their kisses for just a second longer." - Ali & Garrett

"O
ur idea of incorporating hunting in Michigan led us to use artifacts from our families' histories. The florist's family's farm provided the perfect log cabin and matching details. The camping table, muskets, gunpowder, and antlers were heirloom items we had never seen incorporated into a wedding theme before. The model's fur coat, belonging to the florist's grandma, was the finishing touch to add warmth to the wintry scene." - Kathy

or my tablescape, I went with softer pastel colors that I knew would look gorgeous accented by evergreen and juniper. For the dessert table, I featured a signature cocktail of mulled wine with cinnamon and anise, a buttercream cake accented with juniper and hypericum berries, and sweet little fruit tarts. The gown was a vintage (circa 1950) Etsy find with stunning lace for days." - Justina
