“The patterns of our lives have the capacity to connect deeply within us. They are simple expressions of our joy.” I grew up snuggled back in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, where my love for patterns started a very long time ago. I spent countless afternoons at my mom’s creative quilt shop, sewing, crafting and falling in love with fabric. A childhood spent with hands in my mother’s fabric stashes quickly turned into dreams of designing my own fabrics. My husband and I spent a few years tucked away in a little vine covered cottage on the central coast of California, but have recently returned to our roots. I am mostly inspired by the great outdoors, from the largest of trees to the tiniest of leaves. Creating patterns with summery sweet hues is my happy place. I thrive on botanical gardens, sunshiney days, and nature walks- camera in one hand, sketchbook in the other. My goal has always been to create patterns that are organic and natural, joyful and lovely. I believe patterns are one of the ways that we can express ourselves and make our spaces beautiful. I love to weave parts of my life into each one of them, making the design process and end results very personal and meaningful.

CHRISTINE

“LITTLE ENTOMOLOGIST: IT’S HANDSOME, AND SMART AND CRAWLING WITH CUTIES.” 1. Hi Bonnie, we’re so excited about the release of Lambkin! Can you tell us about this sweet collection for girls and boys? I’d love to! With this collection, I wanted to turn to nature’s own adorable pairs of mommies + babies and I think little lambs make one of the snuggliest and sweetest pairs! One thing I love about this collection is that there are several prints that are completely unique to their own colorway, meaning they’re only offered in one color option. This made it possible to create several uniquely ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ prints, each exclusive to their own colorway! 2. This collection has a little bit of everything! From subtle plaid, to cute animals, and even crafty numbers - how did you decide to in-

corporate all of these things that are great for children’s sewing? I got carried away dreaming of the cute prints I would love to use for my own littles, Bear & Ollie. I love prints that are sophisticated and elegant, yet still intended for children. I think this collection has a great mix of ‘handsome’ for the boys and ‘delicate’ for the girls! 3. Since you have two little ones, you probably know how fun it is to decorate and make things for them. What’s your favorite thing about sewing for your kids and what do you look forward to making with Lambkin? Yes, of course! While designing this collection, we were in the middle of building our own home, which made me dream of decorating their bedrooms and how I would use each print. The Arista print to teach them the alphabet, the plaid and florals for quilts and the moonlit stars and trees for clothing. I am most excited about making some small quilts for their beds! 4. This collection shows the vision of a peaceful farmstead. Do you imagine yourself having a farm filled with cute animals? Oh, I would love that! We just finished building our own farmhouse and hope to add some little animals, soon. Sheep are (of course) at the very top of my list!

5. What’s special to you about little lambs that inspired you to name this collection Lambkin? I’ve always had a special love for little lambs. They are so sweet and soft, and seem to always stay close to their mommas. 6. Many of the prints in this collection have a storybook feel. Are there any children’s books that inspired you to create the visual story of Lambkin? We’re a huge fan of storybooks around here, and I especially fall in love with the ones that are beautifully illustrated. You know the ones that truly take you to another place, somewhere secret or magical. The imagination of my childhood is something I always want to hold tightly too (and encourage my children to, as well!). 7. If you had to choose your top 3 favorite prints from this collection, which ones would they be? Oh what a hard question! Ok, here goes: Little Entomologist: It’s handsome and smart and crawling with cuties. Arista Keepsake: Foliage letters have my heart, this print creates so many possibilities! Wooly Umber: A sophisticated plaid for clothing, quilts, dolls and so many little things.

8. With the release of Lambkin, AGF is offering the “Little Acres” free quilt pattern designed by you and your mom, Maxie Makes. Can you tell us all about the quilt design process? Yes! My mom and I always work together on quilt patterns. She has owned a quilt shop for much of my life and is a master at pattern writing and quilt making! I always design the quilt, then we brainstorm on how to construct it. She does the pattern writing, and I illustrate the steps. We’re a perfect match! 9. What inspires you the most about your children? My babies are the biggest inspiration to me, in all things in life! Their imagination, sweetness and playfulness. Their laughter and silliness fill air and it’s impossible not to be overjoyed (and inspired!). 10. When you’re not designing fabrics what are some of your favorite things to do with your kids? Our favorite things to do are always outside. During the summer, we love to explore new rivers, pick wildflowers and hike the mountains around us. During winter we spend lots of time snuggling and reading by the fire, cooking together and learning new crafts. Everything’s better when we’re all together!
