My graduating project was a work on the railways infrastructures that converge at the south of the Valencia Metropolis. It’s an axis of 2400 meters that creates an urban fracture between the different neighbourhoods located along the railways and that are composed of landscape and industrial wasteland. Furthermore, the actual Central is why a new temporary station was built 800 meters from the actual one. In a way to bring an answer to this context I worked on the notion of threshold as a qualitative thickness at both architecture and urban scales. The urban solution wants to give a proper identity to the different neighbourhoods through a landscape accompanying. This new urbanisation will create porosity and new appropriation spaces. The architectural project is questioning the Railway Station type, as a place of social life potentiality for the metropolis, such as the old covered market. Through the dialectic of movement the project wants to create several spaces with different appropriations but also where people can meet and exchange in a informal way. The notion of threshold is developed in a way to make a sliding between the public space and the interior building. It prompts a thickness to the boarder between inside and outside. It will change the relation between the human body and the architectural space in a way to create a Railway Station as a true urban connector. 19
