Art depicting natural scenes provides positive distractions for patients. Studies have shown that the exposure to art that the patient directly relates to, leads to faster healing and shorter hospitalization.

 

Natural views to the exterior environment as well as filtered natural daylight are vital elements for the patient’s success in healing. 1

Creating separate patient suites mitigates the spread of hospital-acquired infections, increases patient privacy, increases patient’s quality of sleep, lowers stress levels of patients, and provides a sense of personal space where families can be included in the patient’s healing process.

 

Layered lighting and different color temperatures of lighting in patient suites aids in the reduction of medical errors, improves patient’s sleeping patterns and reduces the stress associated with hospitalization.

Amenities for both patients and their families help to decrease the length of stay and help to reinforce positive distractions for the patient.


