Julie Akerly has become a leader in the Phoenix Dance Community and in 2018 she received the Mayor’s Arts Award in Dance. After graduating from Arizona State

University with an MFA in Dance and Interdisciplinary Media and Performance, she made a decision to stay in Phoenix and work towards building more opportunities for artists, especially in the field of dance. She works as the Arts Engagement Specialist for the City of Tempe where she focuses on building programs with the community and artists, in addition to supporting the professional development of artists. In 2014 she co-founded [nueBOX] and is now a Permanent Artist In Residence at [nueBOX] where she creates projects with her company, JAMovement, in addition to being the Artist Support and Development Director.

TIFFANY FAIRALL

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Tiffany Fairall has more than 20 years of experience in the museum field. She is currently Chief Curator for Mesa

Contemporary Arts (MCA) Museum at Mesa Arts Center. Fairall started as the museum’s Associate Curator, which evolved into Curator of Exhibitions. Over the last 15 years, she has organized a variety of exhibitions that demonstrate her interest in popular culture and social commentary. Before this appointment, Fairall was the Curatorial Assistant / Assistant Registrar for the ASU Art Museum, where she implemented events and programming for the Ceramics Research

Center and helped manage the museum’s collection and exhibitions. Fairall holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Art History as well as a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Arizona State University.

ANTOINETTE CAULEY

For the past several years, Cauley has spent her time working as a full time painter in her studio in Phoenix, Arizona. Along with her unique and distinguishable paintings,

Cauley is most known for her nine stories tall mural of Civil Rights activist, James

Baldwin in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Cauley has won several awards for her works including being named the first place winner of the Artlink 19th Annual Juried Exhibition in 2019. Along with her awards, Cauley has been featured on various television and print publications such as PBS, JAVA Magazine and was named one of Phoenix Magazine’s “Great 48: 48 Influential people in the state of Arizona” in 2019. Cauley is now based in Germany where she is completing an artist residency with coGalleries.

MARK POMILIO

Mark Pomilio’s current research has focused on creating images which embody the principles associated with geometry, fractals, cloning and single cell manipulation.

These interests have led to invitations to lecture nationally on topics as diverse as art and mathematics as well as the role that the visual arts can play in understanding the social ramifications of advances in the Life Sciences. His artwork has been featured in solo museum and gallery exhibitions both nationally and internationally, including Luxehill Museum in Chengdu, China, Xu Beihong Art

Academy, Renmin University of China in Beijing, the Chapelle Saint-Louis de la

Salapetriere in Paris, France, and Art Resources Transfer in New York City.

RAFAEL NAVARRO

The innate creative abilities of Rafael Navarro emerged long before he entered high school, in his native Mexico City. The primarily self-taught artist — who draws inspiration from his rich heritage, eclectic music, Nature, personal observations, and childhood memories — has resided in Phoenix since 1989 and has assisted several artists all over the valley. His work has drawn critical acclaim from local academics and art patrons to national curators. He is adept at proposing an idea, then transforming its reality within sculpture, painting and printmaking. He is an esteemed member of the thriving Phoenix Downtown-art community and a member of the art collective at The Lodge Art Studio. He holds an Associates in Arts Degree from Phoenix

College with high honors in addition to being Facultad de Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia, with a bachelor’s degree from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
