COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS for YOUTH & TEENS
All staff and visitors will be wearing protective cloth face-coverings. Classroom space will be sanitized every 2 hours, and there will be frequent hand-washing sessions. Students will be issued a private box of materials to use during their time at The Art Center. Classroom seating will be in 6-foot increments. Students will have their temperature checked with a no-touch forehead thermometer during morning drop-off. Any student with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be sent home. All staff will adhere to same temperature monitoring as students.

Discover drawing, painting, sculpture, and everything in between. Students will learn foundational skills of visual art and design and will develop their own artistic voice while building their critical thinking skills. Extend your student’s learning beyond the classroom with this afterschool program. These ongoing sessions offer an evolving curriculum.
Session 1 Nov 6-20: Just in time for Halloween! Maman Spider Sculpture, working with clay, create your own Edvard Munch “Scream” painting.
Session 2 Dec 4-18: Seasonal pastel painting, secret homemade gifts to give, and more.
Home School Program: Wonderful World of Art Ages 5-13 Rachel Egelston Thursdays 1-2:30pm, Oct 22 – Dec 17, skipping Nov 26 $105 member/$155 non-member All materials provided; need-based scholarships available
Welcome to the wonderful world of art. Join in the fun and learning while we discover some of the different fields that make up the art world. Students will experiment with different mediums, and develop art appreciation by developing their observation skills and critical thinking while expanding their art vocabulary. Students will learn art principles while expanding their imagination, expressing themselves artistically through every changing curriculum. Mediums covered are clay, fresco painting, colored pencil, watercolor, oil pastel, charcoal, acrylic, and mixed media.

Monday, Oct 12: Imaginary Worlds – Consider the possibility of alternate worlds, dreamscapes, and imaginary landscapes where adventure occurs and imagination takes over. Students will use a variety of 2D and 3D materials.
Tuesday, Oct 13: All About Me – Self-portrait sculptures, cartooning, large Picasso faces, how to draw a face, happy/sad watercolor books.
Monday, Nov 30: Winter Art Project, how to create with oil pastels and watercolors, Decalcomania printing.

Monday, Nov 23: Art and craft: Fall luminaries, watercolor and ink shadow trees, printing with nature.
Tuesday, Nov 24: Let’s get crazy! We will create art in unusual ways by using fly swatters, marbles, pendulums, painting, and more.
Wednesday, Nov 25: Construction: Group Lego™ sculpture, make paper horse that walks, paper mosaic, twirling parrot.

Holiday Break Day Camp
Monday, Dec 21: It Is the Season of Giving: Students will create a large sculpture using food cans. These cans will be donated to the homeless shelter following deconstruction. We will also create greeting cards by printmaking, and there will be secret gift making.
Tuesday, Dec 22: Winter is Here: Painting with frozen paint, salt and watercolor snowflakes, winter chalk drawing, process art.
Wednesday, Dec 23: Holiday Traditions around the World: Come join art making from holiday traditions around the world.
Monday, Dec 28: STEAM: (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) projects.
Tuesday, Dec 29: Get your Cavemen Skills On: Sand painting, T-rex sculpture, draw the “Croods,” prehistoric art lesson.
Wednesday, Dec 30: Art Sampler: Pencil, watercolor, marker, pastel, and mixed media.
Thursday, Dec 31: Celebrate New Year’s Eve at The Art Center: We will make Chinese drums and party hats, create our own “firework” explosion with paint, and celebrate with refreshments.
Monday, Jan 4: Inspired by Our Western Colorado Backyard: Drawing animals, sand painting, landscapes, sunset collage and more.
Tuesday, Jan 5: Get your Game On: Super hero selfies, ”Pokeman art,” create your own puzzle, printmaking Emojis.
