Mythic Narratives And Enterprises By Vidya Kamat Urvi Chheda in her article describes a glimpse of a Visual Artist, Dr. Vidya Kamat’s organic journey through her progressive ventures of Centre for Study of Mythology and Culture and Talking Myths Project Enriched and fortified by a multitude of experiences since her youth, Vidya Kamat’s speech doesn’t flinch a little as she narrates her lore of photographic oeuvres as well as her genuine intentions and future plans regarding Talking Myths Project and Centre for Study of Mythology and Culture (CSMC). The quasi photo-documents of conceptual performative gestures play as an active ingredient in Dr. Vidya’s process of making art. The photographs taken are then overlapped by the contextual elements, morphing into static performances. “The whole body is like a microcosm, each organ has its own identity”, asserts Vidya. The statement underlines maximum of her artworks. The approach is further explained by the instances that there are goddesses who possess three breasts that imply a stress on the concept of feminism and fecundity while another example of few gods and not all who have multiple heads. This implies that each part of the body is significant by its own individual identity. Although the reality is stated through mythic recital, it relates to the theory of amurtand murt. The manifestation of sublime ideologies through a concrete form.
The artwork reminds the revolutionary art movement of Art Corperel, also known as Body Art. The amalgam of Body Art as well as Mime, in her attempts, is a virtual concoction. The graphics are technically worked upon instead of any literal acts on the body. It is herself, alone devoid of any other being, performing and conveying through her stationary series of action. The subtended visuals are provocative enough to restart the dialogue within one’s conscience. The head is cut and the eyes are stark, staring deep into the abysmal reality. The neutrality of the expressions of each part of her body feels like an impending stoic attitude of humans that is inevitable post phenomena. Having said that, the accessory elements like text, bubbles or an amorphous substance (the sculptural head of figure 3) placed or imposed on her body are quite loud to attribute the relative social meaning to the representation. This form of elemental conversations or say narrations is deep in Vidya’s expressive way of retelling the concept through her unique style. Furthermore, she is cautious of not allowing these accessories overpower her own primary body-part. The concept of being established whatsoever be the circumstances forms a priority and precipitates as a thematic message from her creations.

Hello. My name is Takahiro Yamada. I am a Japanese ballpoint pen artist, mainly drawing cats. I thank Artness System for the great opportunity to be able to share 2 pages of information in ARTNESS CONTEMPORARY for the next 12 months. Considering the main readers of this magazine are art fans, art collectors and artists, let me tell you a little bit about myself, using the 10 Interview Questions Artists Must Be Able to Answer | Art Business Journal. If you’re an artist, answering them yourself may be quite fun as well.

1.What’s your background? Born in Kobe, Japan on Sep. 8th, 1983. Moved to Ottawa IL, USA in 1989 and stayed till 1994. Studied law at Kansai University, Japan. Also studied political science for one year at University of Birmingham, UK. Having changed jobs several times, I now work as a translator for a trading company in Osaka Japan. Drawing since age 5, I came to focus on cats in 2011. So, I’m a self-taught artist. English-speaking artists being rare in my region, I’ve had the privilege to help galleries with international art fair applications, exhibiting in them myself as well.
3. How does your work comment on current social or political issues? Though I appreciate and enjoy contemporary art and how it conveys social/political messages, I myself, for the moment, choose to step aside for 3 reasons. [1] No matter how bizarre it may be, I love this world and that is what I like to show in my works. [2] Presenting straightforward simple works right in the middle of complex contemporary artworks is, for me, in a way, conceptual and somewhat contemporary. [3] Lack of market. In general, Japanese people still do not appreciate social or political artworks much. I could change in

4. Who are your biggest influences? Cats, dogs, owls, stuffed animals and all furry KAWAII things draw most of the attention of my ballpoint pen. My aim is to express their warmth and liveliness on paper through simple means. Some collectors say they like my work because they can simply see the cat in the drawing instead of seeing too much of the artist. Others say they like the eyes. My goal is to keep drawing in the area where what I love and what people like match.
I started drawing at around age 5, after moving from Japan to the US. There was another boy called John who liked drawing and we enjoyed calling ourselves the 2 best artists at school. [2] Returning to Japan in 1994, one time, a church pastor & artist man told me that I should draw human portraits because the human face was the most difficult. I followed the advice and worked on portraits for about 15 years before switching to cats. I appreciate his advice so much. [3] Mom, as she picked up Miichan, our cat, in 2004, which later led me to draw cats.
