NEWS
The really random newsletter all about my art.
Art and music across the city As the headlines suggests, there have certainly been an explosion of art and music across the city. The summer months in Peterborough has been jumping, with the opening of Harriets Art Gallery, Andronica,
The Green Backyard, Peterborough Festival in Central Park and the likes of PAOS open exhibition to name but a few. There are still a host of things going on locally in and around the city. And as for me, well its been a busy and exciting time, with my first radio interview, some live art and meeting a few new people.

Open Studio exhibition
Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios This year the Open Studios exhibition took place in June and saw an increse in the amount of artists showing their work. Along with artist Veronika Leontyeva I was invited to share space at the offices of Art and Stitch. It was great to see some of the regular visitors and friends and also to see some new faces to the exhibitions. It’s refreshing to see that new people are finding out about open studios for the first time, even though they have been running for so long.

This year’s exhibition was so successful and encouraging that I am looking forward to next year’s event and hope to bring a whole new set of work and inspirations. A big thank you to all who came to see my work and the usual massive support from friends, and also for all the positive comments left in my guest book.

I so love this picture taken by David Lowndes/Peterborough ET, which shows the City council chief executive Gillian Beasley, Opportunity Peterborough head Neil Darwin and art gallery director Dawn BirchJames. All looking at my work at the gallery open evening, I think that’s kinda cool. The champagne and canapes event was well attended by the mayor and a variety of local business executives and professionals. The gallery now host an on going exhibition.

From the archives With Black History Month looming and plans being made to show the Heroes collection in October. I just wanted to share this one from the archives. This drawing of Miriam Makeba was produced in the late 70’s and has been tucked away for some time. Coming across it recently I thought that it should now join the Black Heroes collection. I am revisiting this style of stipple dot drawing but don’t use it often as it takes so long.

This small painting Thorpel Manor Fields is produced in soft pastels and was done specifically to show at the John Clare Festival. I really love the mood of this drawing, the sun kissed grass and the early evening summer skies. The oil painting below entitled Reflection of the Urban Youth, is part of a new collection of work. This piece also portrays a style that I have been developing slowly over a number of years and I now feel happy to share the results.

Artist’s in crime Shaun Pitchers, poet Mixy and myself at the John Clare Festival, Torpel Manor Fields. This year we battled the elements of the rain in mid July to engage in art music, poetry and wildlife. Mixy took the shield in the poetry slam down with his style of poetry rap.
