Rousseau Tiger Mural
Henri Rousseau (1844–1910) was a French Post-Impressionist painter who worked in what was referred to as a “Primitive” manner. Rousseau was often teased by other artists because he never received any formal art education. He eventually came to be recognized as a self-taught genius whose works are of high artistic quality. This mural is in honor of his painting
I first earned my B.F.A. at Minneapolis College of Arts and Design, and then enjoyed a 20-year career in graphic design. When my son entered kindergarten, my career path took a turn. Our local elementary school had no art program and that was all the inspiration I needed to take up a new cause. I served as a volunteer art docent for several years before becoming the school’s Professional Expert in Visual Arts. I now teach twenty K-5 classes weekly in Sherman Oaks, CA and also conduct an after-school Art Enrichment program. With over 1000 classroom-tested art projects posted to my blog, I’m happy to pass on my ideas and experiences to all who would like to add a little more creativity to their lives.
