Music
Glimpse into the future of design and art with Winchester School of Art (WSA). From games design to fashion and graphics, WSA brings design to life through their diverse talks and events and the annual shows in Winchester and London.
Experience enthralling live music at Turner Sims performed by leading jazz, folk, world and classical artists. Catch the University’s Music Department’s exciting performance projects and festivals as well as their free lunchtime concert series featuring leading professional musicians and their talented emerging musicians. The University of Southampton Voices is a community choir open to students, staff and the wider community. Southampton-based organisation Art Asia present a programme of South Asian music and dance for the community. Alongside regular events and classes, it brings the city alive with a spectacular free annual festival, the Southampton Mela.
Film From blockbuster movies to alternative cinema, there’s so much in Southampton for film fans. The University’s own student-run Union Films presents new releases alongside world cinema with The Phoenix and its Student Film Festival showcases work by new talent. Long-established community film organisation City Eye supports local filmmakers, offering a programme of training, projects, events and screenings for all ages and abilities, including its annual Southampton Film Week.

Visual Art
Uncover the creative process with events from the University’s English Department including Writers in Conversation, and live poetry with Entropics. Annual festivals including SO: To Speak and the Winchester Writers’ Festivals offer opportunities for writers to share their work at events and workshops.
Discover a world of internationally recognised contemporary art with John Hansard Gallery’s programme of exhibitions and events, take in developing artists work at Showcase Gallery and marvel at the city’s acclaimed collection at Southampton City Art Gallery, all located in Southampton’s Cultural Quarter.
Theatre
At Highfield and Boldrewood Campuses, explore our sculpture collection and discover work by international artists. Delve into archival exhibitions at the University’s Special Collections Gallery alongside the Level 4 Gallery at the Hartley Library.
Enjoy the best of the performing arts with Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) at NST Campus and NST City, from acclaimed original productions and touring shows to comedy nights. Experience performances across Southampton, from over 40 student performing arts societies to major productions at the Mayflower Theatre. The Winchester Hat Fair is the UK’s longest running festival of outdoor arts that takes place across the city and is complimented by the Theatre Royal Winchester’s year-long programme.
