Arts en Pointes The arts enrich our lives with creativity and beauty. Art, in all its forms, is born when an artist conceives a piece or produces a stimulating experience. While dancers use their own body movements and facial expressions as a “medium, visual artists use materials such as paint, pencil, clay, metal, wood, or found objects to create their works of art. Throughout history, artists from different disciplines have collaborated to produce works that enrich our world. That was the inspiration of Arts en Pointes, a project originally conceived by Ruby Issaev, Marketing Director of Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. With the idea of partnering ballet and visual arts, local, national, and international artists were asked to produce works using the most significant symbol of classical ballet: a pair of pointe shoes. Some painted them, others molded them into sculptures, and some of them produced readymade. Each artist created a unique work or art that reflects his or her own individual form of expression. From figurative styles to more conceptual ones, from oil painting to photography, from two dimensional to three dimensional pieces, from romantic styles to poignant interpretations, the resulting works reflect individual interpretations of the world of classical ballet. We are grateful to the artists who participated in this project. Their unique works of art have been generously donated to be sold on a silent auction to benefit Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. This wonderful collection of ballet inspired art pieces, which will be displayed during the exhibition that will take place prior to the auction, is a testimony of how enriching the collaboration within the arts can be, and of the belief that together we can continue to add beauty to this world.
