The members meet for demonstrations and lectures every other week at the clubrooms just off Argyle Street in St Andrews. At present there are over 160 members with a long waiting list of people wanting to join. Three exhibitions a year are held, one at Easter, one in November and during July a larger two-week show is held. There are also regular weekend exhibitions for unframed work. We do this through promoting and supporting communities to express themselves through their creative endeavours. We ensure that community drama has a ‘voice’ in Scotland. We continually organise and promote popular and successful festivals, run playwriting competitions and offer training in all aspects of theatre including: acting, set design and construction, costume and make up. You can keep updated on all of these events online, by reading our monthly newsletter or our quarterly in-house magazine, ‘Scene’. The Joe Corrie Project www.facebook.com/BirnamCD

Cage Load of Men is a CD that celebrates The Joe Corrie Story - a Fife local hero who went on from Cardenden to inspire and influence thousands through his plays and poems. That influence has continued in music that compliments Joe Corrie's socialist message perfectly. The aim of the project was to celebrate the work of a Fife writer who had exerted a major influence on British/Scottish drama and literary culture and to re acquaint a modern audience with Corrie's poems and songs. Respected producer and musician Erik Knussen was commissioned as Musical Director and funding was obtained from Fife Council. The talented pool of Musicians involved included The Hershaws, legendary Folk singers Davey Stewart and Fiona Forbes, clarsach player Jenn Knussen and Fife's freshest acoustic music phenomenon, The Dandylions. The CD is available from Amazon & Birnam CD.

The Happy Lands www.thehappylands.com Theatre Workshop Scotland presents The Happy Lands, a feature film developed and created along with members of the mining communities of Fife, Scotland. Robert Rae's second feature film conveys a world burning with rawedged political relevance. It's 1926. Britain is taken to the brink of revolution only seven years after the slaughter of the trenches. Savage austerity cuts imposed by the government turn lawabiding citizens into lawbreakers in a heroic battle against the state. From the makers of the multi-award winning feature, Trouble Sleeping comes a courageous and inspiring testament to the fighting spirit of our times. Created from the true stories of Scottish miners, The Happy Lands shines with honesty and integrity. Outstanding performances are underpinned with powerful emotional authenticity that will reach audiences across the world. A Theatre Workshop Scotland Production supported by Creative Scotland through The National Lottery, in association with BBC Scotland. Directed by Robert Rae.

We asked artists in Fife what they would do if they made their millions. We wanted to know what positive contributions artists would make towards our planet.

"If I made my millions, I would..." Make more waste aware projects. Reduce, reuse and recycle! – Emma Pauley Stop companies drilling under the sea for oil. I would invest in science and technologies to find alternative fuel. I would also support and extend the usage of solar panels. – Roza Karimova Stop over fishing in our oceans, discourage fish farming and plant a huge forest. I would also build an ecological town in South America and start a charity fund to support artists all over the world. – Stuart Russell
