LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
A bridge is what makes it safe to walk from one end to another and sometimes we need a little safety. Being an artist quite often is much more than just your work, its also about getting your art work out there. And "out there" is almost always certainly dealing with CLIQUES & CIRCLES it's an unfortunate part of dealing with the art world but none the less it exists. We would hope to bridge those gaps between all, the artists, the dealers, the promoters and especially the clicks & circles. Much Love and Respect Alex Trillo

REALITY CHECK
[reality . check] noun: an occasion on which one is reminded
of the state of things in the real world.
Candid up-close photos of bands by Geoffrey Nicholson. At first, we were going to name the title of this spread “mic check”. However, this imagery with it’s raw intensity is a vivid reminder of the reality of what rock looks like. Indeed this should be more accurately called—reality check.

Jaime Morales at ART! The Magazine's signature event 'Music On Canvas'. March 19, 2016 - Los Angeles, CA.
Jaime, tell us where did the inspiration of becoming an artist come from? Thank you for the accolades. I’ve been creating art in one form or another but started showing my work in public venues in the last 4 years. One of the greatest inspirations to create new works and continue showing my work has been the positive response from those attending the shows. This motivates me to create new works and improve my style and technique.
Music and comics, tell us how you came about creating such an awesome thing with these comic covers you are doing? At the beginning of this year I wanted to do something very different from my caricature oil paintings. I often conjure up visions while listening to the lyrics and overall mood of the music. Being a
comic book fan it felt like a natural step marrying classic songs and comic book art. I love songs that are not too literal thereby allowing me to interpret the meaning of the song as I hear it.
We love all the Rock'n'Roll stuff you do. Will you or would you ever dabble in any other genres such as Hip-Hop or anything else? I grew up listening to rock music in all its sub-genres from pop to metal to alternative so I do work within that genre. If there was a request or demand for an artist of a different genre I would gladly create a piece.
If there was one musical icon you could paint for and know that your piece would hang in their home who would it be? I'm such a big fan of music that to have one become a fan of my work
would be the greatest reward. I thought that this would be a hard question to answer because there are so many living legends who I dearly admire. I think Paul McCartney would be the ultimate one. The Beatles were the first band that I fell in love with and still do.
The art scene can sometimes be a difficult place. How do you manage to maintain and keep balance? I’m in a fortunate position in that I do not depend on the sales of my artwork to pay the bills. Also, since I entered into this field later in life I do not have to juggle my time between my job and family. I am able set aside time to work on my pieces whether it be 30 minutes or 8 hours. Because I love the creative process, any time no matter how small is a joy. Cont...

but failed miserably always resulting in damaged sculptures so I’ve decided to just sell the originals. My pieces look a little rough but it's a work in progress. With each new piece I improve my technique.
For all the people that would love more info or that want to purchase from you where can they go? Check out my Instagram: Rockin_Art or my Facebook page: Rockin-Art for updates to upcoming shows. I've been putting pieces up for sale on Ebay: rockinart-us.
Any last thoughts, comments or advice you'd like to share with everyone? Support the arts. Buy art that you love. The artist loves to display their works but find it even more rewarding when someone buys it because it validates that others see the beauty in the created pieces. End

We personally love the KISS work you've done. Who are some of your favorite bands to paint? KISS is always a fun group to do. They are a perfect combination of comic book characters and rock n roll. The Ramones is another group that I enjoy working on as well. My favorite single artists to do are David Bowie, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix. These artists exude an energy even when they're off stage, that's what draws me

(unintened pun) to specific musicians.
You are now making sculptures tell us a little more about that? I tried my hand at sculpting a few years back without much success. As with the comic book series, I wanted to do something different than my previous works. I decided to create pieces based on my drawings and paintings. I initially wanted to create molds to reproduce them
