“This painting is about that very special time when you are on holidays and completely forget about all your worries and just be present in the moment. This painting depicts a girl on holiday, relaxing by the beach with the palm trees and bright colours surrounding her. She is revelling in that forgotten time”.
“Synesthesia is a word for when you experience one of your senses through another. For me, as deaf artist, I see and think in colour. I may see a person and think of a colour, or smell something and instantly think of a different colour. I have shown the squiggle near my ear to represent that feeling of sometimes when I hear a sound it might be jumbled upbut I can see a clear colour in front of me”.

The Unmasked Samurai. Lowering his mask this unnamed Samurai reveals his face. Called Men-Yoroi or Menpo these masks were facial armour worn by Japanese Samurai. They were designed not only to protect the face but also to intimidate the enemy.

Kaihime or Lady Kai was a Japanese Onna-musha from the Sengoku period. She is known as the beautiful and heroic woman who helped her father’s resistance at the Oshi castle.

Midnight Kunoichi, the term Kunoichi was given to female ninja who were practitioners of ninjutsu and were highly trained with a variety of weapons including cat-claws and metal blade folding fans.

Oni Gozen was a Japanese noble woman and an Onna-Bugeisha from the Sengoku period. She was nicknamed ‘Oni’ meaning ogre or demon because of her fierceness and bravery. She was not only a skilful martial artist but a military commander.

While Calyto made his way to meet Marghyn and an uncertain future, clouds gathered. The Monitors watched the storm, as lightning struck the land over and over. It was an ominous sign.

Sharbouel longed to possess a sacred vessel first owned by The Great Domitiya, but it had been won in battle by the powerful god Arlarac, and had remained in Arlarac’s possession for several centuries.
So Sharbouel snuck into Arlarac’s palace early in the dawn light while everyone slept, and stole the sacred vessel from the Cabinet of Treasures. The theft was witnessed by Monitor birds who had followed Sharbouel there from three lands away.
