1 Kim Powers Kim Powers Studio 6095 Dufort Rd., Sagle (509) 869-4230 Kimpowers12@me.com I invite you to visit my 70 year old barn converted to a studio and gallery. My work is comprised of impressionistic oil paintings, whimsical sculpture, and abstract fabric pieces. I love living in Sandpoint and I find my art expresses this in subject matter and pieces of nature I include in my work. The water, the mountains, and the sky are all part of my heart and my art. Note: Gracing the cover of this years’ Artists’ Studio Tour brochure, you’ll find a group of aspens in a painting entitled Down the Road, an example of Kim Powers’ lyrical landscape painting.

2 Ellen Pfalzgraff Lakeview Fiber Studio 16 Camp Peine Rd. Sagle, ID 83860 ellen.pfalzgraff@ gmail.com This is my first year on the tour and I am honored and thrilled to be here! I am a fiber artist with a focus in felt work. I am inspired by the diversity of what can be achieved in felt and pushing the boundaries of this medium is part of the fun. I will have a variety of work for viewing during the tour, including adornments for the person and the home, wall and table hangings, vessels, and hand felted paintings. I look forward to meeting you.

2 Lynne Campbell Showing at Lakeview Fiber Studio 16 Camp Peine Rd. Sagle, ID 83860 (208) 265-4755 lynne@lightplayimages.net I fell in love with photography while still in college and traveling overseas. But it wasn’t until I’d ended a career in advertising that I began pursuing it with a passion. Digital had overtaken film, and I took to the new technology like a duck to water. I find living on planet Earth an incredible mix of the beautiful, the ugly, and everything in between. Photography offers me a kind of sacred space where I can focus on the wonderment of life in all its variety and detail. It is my meditation; it feeds my soul. Enjoy the Tour. I feel privileged to be able to share my work with you.

3 Jerry Yates Lake Shore Lavender Farm and Studio 9969 Lakeshore Drive, Sagle (208) 263-1476 Yatesassoc@yahoo.com Our studio in the barn has seen a lot of action this year, including a new focus on portraiture and other human-interest subjects. You will also find work from our travels as well as our favorite North Idaho locations.

3

Sharon Yates Lake Shore Lavender Farm and Studio 9969 Lakeshore Drive, Sagle (208) 263-1476 Yatesassoc2@yahoo.com The moment the chill subsides I’m out painting! Idaho is just one gorgeous vista after another and joining the North Idaho Plein Air Painters group has been a wonderful choice for me. Spectacular landscapes and delightful friends - what more could a pastelist ask for?

4 Glenda Kochen Studio at Muskrat Lake 142 Maria Pia Lane, Sagle (602) 999-3075 glennsglass123@gmail.com Etsy.com/shop/glennsglass For over 20 years I’ve been on a journey with glass. With each new technique I grow, yet there’s always more to discover. This year I’ve stepped it up a notch . . . I’ve incorporated aluminum and even torched copper into my glass designs to incorporate the beauty that surrounds us. The copper brings back memories of summer sunsets of years past and you can almost see your reflection in Lake Pend Oreille as you gaze into my new aluminum and glass designs. I am also excited to share new designs of my wearable art; pendants, earrings & gifts. Come visit my 1400 square foot studio on the shores of Muskrat Lake. Thanks, Glenda Kochen - Glennsglass

Barbara Field Perceptions Studio 375 W Garfield Bay Road Sagle, Idaho (208) 263-7924 perceptions-in-art.com barbf253@aol.com

“I swing open wide-The empty portal-to each new portal in life”. - Mattie J.T. Stepanek My painting perceptions reflect life’s many visual stories. In each overall composition, I select particular rhythms, hues and mood which hopefully will enhance real and imaginary subjects. As an honors undergraduate at Hunter College, I studied under some very well known N.Y. Abstract Expressionists painters. Their basic influence still affects my use of space, line and color. Similarly, my growing family’s move to the northwest opened up a spectacular world of glistening mountain peaks, damp forest trails and glimmering waters. My work can be viewed in galleries and shows through out Puget Sound and North Idaho as well as in private collections nationwide. Visit my Garfield Bay Studio to see my acrylic and watercolor pictures, plus enjoy a spectacular view of beautiful Lake Pend Oreille.

6 Mary Gayle Young Earth Wear Designs 1591 Garfield Bay Rd., Sagle, Idaho (208) 263-6782 earthweardesigns@dishmail.net Inspiration comes from everything around me. Nature has provided the basis for my natural and abstract design concepts. Porcupine quills, antlers, twigs, recycled metals, and organic gems take me on a journey of exploration. Heat and cold connections, rivets, wraps and weaving give a distinctive yet elegant touch. With detail to color, shape and texture my work goes in many directionsnever a single style. Come discover beautiful Garfield Bay by car, boat or bicycle.

6

Lucy West Showing at Earth Wear Studio (208) 255-7569 LucyWestStudios.com lucyweststudios@ gmail.com

Creating a painting often feels equivalent to taking an exotic excursion into mysterious lands where I am awed by the discovery of the unexpected along the way. As I travel across my canvases I learn about the complexities of the subjects I’m rendering, the physical or emotional dynamics, and the hidden details that typically send me reeling with a moment of joyful insight. I gain deep satisfaction when I discover something that might not have surfaced for me through any other channel of inspection or expression.

7

Connie Scherr Scherr Haven Studio 333 Birch Haven Dr. Sagle, Idaho 83860 (208) 290-7570 Maybe it’s because I am originally from the land of 10,000 lakes that water has always inspired me to paint. It could be resting Pelicans in the Sea of Cortez, sea cliffs in Southern California or the flow of the Clark Fork River at Johnson’s Creek here in North Idaho, I need to paint them! I have been blessed to live close to water my whole life, so come to my Studio by land or lake and see what has inspired me this past year.

7

Larry Clark Showing at Scherr Haven Studio clark487@frontier.com I have had the good fortune to spend much of my life doing what I enjoy most: working with and teaching about clay. I taught at the University of Kansas, University of Northern Colorado and recently retired from a 20 year session at North Idaho College. Most of my ceramics work is fairly straightforward and functional although I like to experiment with the illusion of vases that appear to already be in use. I often see my work as pots wrapped in a painting.

7

Daris Judd Showing at Scherr Haven Studio Spirit n Soul Studio PO Box 855 Bayview, Idaho 83803 spiritnsoularts@gmail.com (208) 290-6423 Come see the vibrant colors and imagination expressed in my paintings. Use of paint, wax and mixed media bring life to everyday visions. This is not your traditional art work, but joy for life is shown in full color. Combined techniques put depth and interest in every piece. Acrylic, Encaustic and Printmaking.

7 Pauline Ehly Showing at Scherr Haven Studio (208) 263-6275 mpaulineehly@hotmail.com A life-long passion for the arts and crafts of the earth elements. I am most inspired when working with silk, merino wool fibers, natural plant dyes and combining many methods of felting to create accessories and wearable art. In my unique line of jewelry, I enjoy combining mixed metals, and pebbles selected along the clear shores of lakes and rivers from the Pacific Northwest. It is a privilege to work so close to nature and do what I do! Welcoming visitors throughout the year at my studio by appointment.

8

Don Fisher

Don Fisher Studio 535 Comeback Bay Lane, Sagle doncindyfisher@gmail.com (208) 920-1900 My photographic approach is very simply this:Â Photography is my meditation and my creative outlet. Both are extremely vital and make my life much fuller. Photography also brings me to other people who share a similar passion and have a way of looking at the world in a way that I relate to.

SANDPOINT DOVER

9 Patricia Barkley Panhandle Art Glass 514 Pine Street Sandpoint, Idaho (208) 263-1721 pkbarkley@hotmail.com We have been very busy this last year. There have been countless opportunities to design and make some beautiful pieces. The photo at left is one of a large triptych showing the spectrum of color running through the entire nine foot installation. The studio is still running strong with the usual abundance of chaos and poodles. We look forward to your visit this year.

10 Kevin Watson Shibusa Studios 525 Oak St., Sandpoint (208) 696-0596 www.shibusastudios.com I like to combine seemingly disparate objects to make a coherent statement or express a concept. Sometimes, I make a game out of it and see how few elements are needed to complete a piece. It’s complete when nothing can be added or removed without changing the intended idea. The emotions and thoughts evoked by ordinary objects when used in unfamiliar ways are always intriguing. I like for a piece to have layers and to offer entreaties to viewers who are willing to invest some time getting to know it and to engage in a dialogue of sorts.

11 Rob Payne Creative Wood Ventures Studio 204 S. Florence Ave., Sandpoint, Idaho Open 10 to 4 daily or by appointment (208) 265 1575 / (208) 304 4682 Rob.pay@gmail.com robpaynewoodart.com Many of my art pieces have begun with hiking miles of shore lines or combing a forest floor seeking interesting wood gifts from the environment. Over the years, along with creating new purpose for these wood gifts, rusty pieces of iron have found their way into my collections as well. Recently I began creating bells, small figurine sculptures and decorative security window panels. Come enjoy the new life I’ve given to this recycled metal along with my newest functional wood art creations in a furniture form and a few pieces that haven’t found a new home yet.

12 Nan Cooper Colored Horse Studio 377 Johnny Long Rd Sandpoint, Idaho (208) 265-9601 nanchanges@wildblue.net My paintings are secret love poems written in color, rhythm, texture and movement. Everything I experience enriches and saturates my work. In my career I was honored by the US Ambassador to Portugal to have my work displayed in its embassy through the Art In Embassies Program. Later Ray Kinstler sponsored me into the Artists Relief Foundation in New York. My degrees include double undergraduate degrees in Painting and Art History with both an MA and MFA in Painting and Print Making.

12 Liliana Showing at Colored Horse Studio 377 Johnny Long Rd. Sandpoint, ID www.lilianabarbieri.com lilianart28@yahoo.com (208) 610-2506 Bright colors, highlights and deep shadows, dancing flowers in a hot summer wind, a winter landscape dotted with snowflakes swirling in the sky, soft moonlight, or a warm sunshine; all these are subjects of my paintings that tell stories about things that touch my heart. I grew up in Poland greatly influenced by my grandmother’s love for her gardens and nature; followed by incredible 23 years in San Fransisco Bay Area; to finally arrive in Sandpoint where the mountain and the lake meet to foster my two passions: painting and skiing.

12 Carol Kovalchuk Showing at Colored Horse Studio (208) 265-0623 Living here in North Idaho, the inspiration to paint can be overwhelming, so much to paint so little time. Working as a pastel painter I love the buttery texture of the medium. Each time I apply color it becomes a tactile experience, blending the rich pastels with the tips of my fingers or overlaying color on color. I paint en Plein air and in the studio but love creating out in natural light and surroundings where I observe the atmospheric perspective, depth of color, highlights and shadows. Like the Impressionist painters, I try to express that changing quality of light on a subject. My paintings are that impression of the fleeting quality of light.

13 Carolyn Beckwith Showing at Schweitzer Gallery (208) 691-6568 Carolyn@yahoo.com I enjoy time in my studio creating unique sterling silver jewelry, using natural gemstones, pearls and Swarovski crystals. Whether I am restringing a favorite set of pearls or creating something new from a solo earring, designing and creating is my passion. Each day brings a new challenge and adventure. Come to the Artists Studio Gallery at Schweitzer Mountain Resort and see what is inspiring me today; like our lives, the only constant is change.

13 Julie Ellis Showing at Schweitzer Gallery (208) 610-9985 ellisjul@gmail.com For me, my art is an escape . . . lots of love, fun, color & memories. Every brushstroke comes from the heart. It is my hope that others take my art home because it “speaks” to them. Please join me Sundays & paint your own special dish!

13 Susie Pace Showing at Schweitzer Gallery (208) 946-0101 pace1821@yahoo.com This Summer I am making stack rings. Come to the gallery at Schweitzer Mountain and put together your own stack of handmade rings. My design materials will focus around recycled products in a beautiful display of stacking rings. Precious Metal Clay, silver will personalize initial rings and recycled wine bottle gems add beautiful color to other stackable choices.

14 Julie Hutslar Julie Hutslar Studio 700 Caribou Creek Rd North Sandpoint (208) 263-1448 www.jrhutslar.com My art is my autobiography, my work reflects my life. “Paintings have a life of their own that derive from the painter’s soul,” as Vincent Van Gogh said and I choose to focus on that aspect of painting. My body of work varies widely depending upon what needs to be said and felt, from peaceful scenes of North Idaho mountains and streams reflecting light and color to distorted souls seeking redemption. Look for my new collection of vivid acrylics! For a complete viewing, visit my studio and the beautiful, expansive view overlooking two mountain ranges. Visit my web page and calendar for watercolor workshop listings. www.jrhutslar.com

15 Steve Gevurtz Steve Gevurtz Sculpture Studio 245 Kootenai Fourth Ave. Sandpoint, ID 83864 (509) 981-9215 slgevurtz@aol.com www.stevegevurtzsculpture.com With each new bronze sculpture I strive to tell a story about something meaningful that I have learned about life. Some lesson, experience, or powerful insight that I bring to life, in a very personal way, through the power of the human form. This has been an amazing year artistically, and has led to the creation of several new pieces, including “The Arrival” (pictured) and “One Step Home” both of which will be available in finished bronze for the tour. I invite you to come visit the studio, view my new and previous works in the gallery, and take a stroll through the lakeside sculpture gardens. While in the studio, I will be demonstrating and explaining the complex process a new sculpture goes through, as it travels from an idea to a completed bronze. For those of you who are interested in commissioning a bronze of your own, it will be a good time to review your project and explore ideas.

16 Janene Grende Janene Grende Studio 966 N. Kootenai Rd. Sandpoint Idaho 83864 208-263-6210 www.janenegrende.com Brilliant silk dye colors dancing across silk, a watercolor of a horse or wildlife, plein air oil paintings of scenery or still life, and detailed acrylic paintings all in one studio. I work in all these mediums and subject matter. I also illustrated a sweet little childrens book titled “The Great Carousel Race.” Come visit my Studio, expect some equine activities as well.

17 Lori Moore Moosemamas Art Studio 1884 Flume Creek Ranch (208) 263-6502 Flumecreekranch@gmail.com. www.artinsandpoint.org/lori-moore I love to paint big, bold and bright colors. A self-taught Artist and relatively new to the art world, all mediums are fair game, whether it’s in watercolors, acrylics, inks, collage or oils. For me! There are no boundaries. I paint mostly with old torn up credit cards that give me texture, dimension and a freedom that I can’t achieve with just paint brushes. I was asked recently what is my mission statement, “Live, Love, Laugh and keep painting till the cows come home.” Visit my remote art studio for a behind the scenes experience of how an artist works. When I paint, I’m the happiest artist on earth.

17 Sally Dennison Showing at Moosemamas Art Studio 1884 Flume Creek Ranch (208) 597-4546 sally@air-pipe.com SallyDennison.org Living in Sandpoint, I am inspired by all around me: the shapes and colors of nature. Each painting is unique and tells a story about the glory of being a flower, or the crisp perspective of being an apple or pear. In my Mystical Forest series, the background is created by dribbling and splashing watercolor, creating the mystical feeling. Then I wait until some creatures or flowers come out of the forest: a deer or a moose or a flock of birds. Please join me this year at Moosemamas Studio at Flume Creek Ranch, where you never know what will happen but it will be full of color and happiness. My work can be seen at Art Works Gallery, Artists’ Studio at Schweitzer, POAC and the annual Artists’ Studio Tour in Sandpoint and the Artisan Gallery in Priest River.

17 Joanne Walker Showing at Moosemamas Art Studio 1884 Flume Creek Ranch (949) 280-9288 jcwdesigns@live.com In my Sandpoint studio, I design and create sterling silver and copper jewelry using sheet metal and traditional metalsmithing techniques such as soldering, sawing, filing, forming and hammering. I love to create bold, interesting jewelry by turning the flat metal into three-dimensional creations that makes a statement and people enjoy wearing. Natural stones are also incorporated in my jewelry and for some sparkle, a faceted stone will often be used. When I’m not in my studio, I’m exploring nature by kayaking the waters or riding the outback on my ATV.

18 David Baranski Baranski Studio & Gallery 42963 Hwy 200, Hope, Idaho (208) 290-5129 dbaranski46 @hotmail.com I have been in the art business for over 40 years. My gallery has many pieces showing the road I have traveled. Furniture, sculpture, and acrylic painting are my mainstays. I also represent many of the region’s finest artists. Myself and several of the artists I represent do collaborative pieces to challenge each other’s imaginations. You never know what you are going to get which is really a lot of fun. My gallery location rests above Lake Pend Oreille with fantastic island and peninsula views to further enhance the studio experience.

19 Barbara Janusz Studio By The Lake Lake Rim Drive, Hope (208) 290-1279 www.BarbaraJanusz.com I’ve experienced nature in different places around the world, then I found the Pacific Northwest, my home has been my canvas ever since. Enjoyable, and fun, participate and experience the Artist Dream here at the Studio. Always welcome after the Tour. Just give us a call.

19 Bonnie DeHart Showing at Studio By The Lake Custom Jewelry by Bonnie DeHart PO Box 577, Sandpoint, ID 83864 (208) 660-3825 WiredByBonnie@gmail.com www.WiredByBonnie.com My name is Bonnie DeHart, and I have been an artist ever since I drew my first portrait at the age of 3. I believe all children are by nature, artists, and it is only what one develops on the way to adulthood that the artist is known by. I have always loved unusual rocks, stones, pretty shells, and color. As an artist I use my love of those things to influence my art, the art of wire sculpted jewelry. It is an ancient art that I put modern twists to, working with various metals and stones. My one of a kind, custom pieces have pleased customers from coast to coast and internationally. See examples on the web at www.wiredbybonnie.com. Email me at wiredbybonnie@gmail.com or call me to make an appointment for a showing (208) 660-3825.

20 Eriko Yamada Traveling Guest Artist Soul Appeal Studio 597 Larsen Ranch Lane, Sandpoint, ID Tim@soulappeal.com Guest Artist Eriko Yamada works in a wide variety of traditional and digital media. Her work includes large scale murals, children’s book illustrations, Web design, package design, and silkscreen print making for an array of uses like skateboards, snowboards and illustrations for satellites. In 2014 she was Artist-in-Residence for Planet Labs, a San Francisco-based aerospace company, where she inspired engineers with picture storytelling. During the summer, Eriko joined Digital Detox’s Camp Grounded where she led fun arts playshops for participants in this No Digital Devices summer camp for adults. Tour participants will see Eriko and Tim at work on the process of creating the flavor, the personality, and the artwork for the children’s book, along with artwork previously finished by Eriko. Working together; blending cultures, ages, experiences, and vivid imaginations-the result promises to be surprising, exciting, and a litter box full of fun! Perhaps you’ll have a great idea for the book’s title, or an image that a child in your life would love to see. Studios open from 10am to 4pm All visitors are welcome before and after Artists’ Studio Tour by appointment

Lost on the tour? Call (208) 265-1776 This year the Artists’ Studio Tour is pleased to donate a portion of each artist’s sales during the Tour to Idaho Panhandle Habitat For Humanity. The artists who participate on the Tour love the community they represent and are grateful for the opportunity to help those organizations that better the Sandpoint area. Each piece of art sold during the Tour will benefit this wonderful organization. So, enjoy these two weekends touring the Studios as you explore this beautiful area with its rivers, mountains and lake. Each artist is looking forward to demonstrating and sharing with you their artistic style. See you on the Tour! ~ Petja Scheele ASTI Director
