BEAUTY I am a freelance photographer operating from Dubai, UAE, on mostly fashion, beauty and lifestyle projects. Since my switch from amateur to commercial photography, I have mostly abandoned film and now generally shoot in digital format, either with a full sensor Canon 5D Mark II or a medium format Hasselblad H4D camera, depending upon the requirements.
The switch from film to digital was purely driven by commercial reasons and logistics surrounding print media.

When post-production/retouching is required, I do all the retouching work myself. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending upon the exact requirements of the project or the client, but also depending upon the technical aspects of the work and capability of the whole team. I find that, although I do like to get things right at shoot time, sometimes retouching work
is necessary, especially in beauty, where imperfections in skin and facial hair can be a distraction from the overall quality of the final image.
In terms of lighting, I use Profoto radio triggered lights, with a range of light modifiers to create an appropriate mood and achieve a desired effect for the final photograph.
Since I shoot in digital format, I generally tether either of my cameras to my Mac Book so that the images shot can immediately be reviewed on a computer screen and any adjustments to lighting, make-up, or the set can then be made to achieve a desired final look. For on-location work, computer tethering is not always possible, depending upon the elements.

In terms of my previous and current commissions, my most notable clients for editorial work include M.A.C Cosmetics, Gucci, Ralph Lauren and Gianni Calignano,
with my photographs appearing in a number of magazines, including Osrati, One 8 One, Hia and Velvet magazines; the list is expanding.
