2014/15 Season
Goalkeeper – Julian Speroni £4.8m The Pardew bandwagon rolls on! Speroni was once again in inspired form for Palace, producing 5 saves to preserve the precious 3 points, his 6th clean sheet of the season. The win looks to have moved Palace far away from trouble and potentially cost Nigel Pearson his Leicester City job. Speroni was already a Palace legend and it seems that they will stay in the Premier League for the 2nd consecutive season for the 1st time ever.
Midfield – Ki Sung –yueng £4.9m His 4th goal of the season rescued a point for inconsistent Swan- sea. A vital player since Garry Monk persuaded him to return from Sunderland and that he had a future with the Swans. At £4.9 million he is well worth having in your fantasy football squad, a consistent contributor.
Defence – Maya Yoshida £4.2m A vital win for Southampton, when many were predicting that the wheels had come off their fantastic season. Yoshida, back in recent weeks, marshalled the backline superbly and shackled Charlie Austin, who has been lethal at Loftus Road this season. The Saints go marching on.
Midfield – Daley Blind £5.1m Another surprise as Blind makes the team for the 2nd week in a row. His late late equaliser rescuing a point for United for the second time this season. A goal and 2 assists in the last fortnight, he is rapidly becoming a fans favourite and a necessity with the front players misfiring. Surely this form can’t continue?!
Defence – Alberto Moreno £5.1m Much maligned at the start of the season, Alberto Moreno seems to now be adapting to English life with a series of impressive performances. Not for the faint hearted, he coped with his first Goodison derby with ease and looked ex- tremely comfortable. This was Liverpool’s 4th clean sheet in a row and with Moreno playing further forward in the left wing back role he may be worth con- sidering for your fantasy team in the weeks to come.
Forward – Danny Ings £5.7m Ings registered his second highest total of the season but will be disappointed that a goal and an assist didn’t yield 3 points. 8 goals for the season now and a man, you feel, who is playing his last 6 months in the claret of Burnley, whatever division they end up in. His goals will be needed for them to stay up and at £5.7m he is definitely worth a fantasy league pick.
Defence – Phil Jagileka £5.5m Everton seem to have returned to last season’s solid defensive performances, this being their 3rd consecutive shut out. No derby glory but a team that has underperformed this season and with Jagielka now back in form, you may fancy them for a late season surge.
Forward – Harry Kane £6.1m One of the revelations of the season, it just keeps getting better and better for the young Spurs striker. Over double figures in the league and double that in all competitions, he is a man in form and due to his price being so low at the start of the season, he is still very cheap considering his form. A must at the moment for a resurgent Tottenham. For the toast of North London, England beckons.
Midfield – Chris Brunt £5.2m This week’s star man. An unlikely haul of 13 points for Chris Brunt, notching a goal and an assist. The Northern Irish international seemingly spurred on by being replaced as West Brom captain by Darren Fletcher before this game. A true professional to respond in this manner but unlikely to repeat the feat much again this season.
Thom Soutter
Midfield – Joe Ledley £5.3m Another man flourishing in Palace’s recent form. Ledley has been almost ever present for them this season and typifies the fighting attitude within the squad. His winning goal at the weekend could well be the difference between Palace or Leicester surviving in the Premier League. Midfield – David Meyler £4.7m In truth, the dream team in game week 24 is unlikely to have many fantasy football managers rushing to alter their squads, as many of the inclusions in this team enjoyed rare moments in the limelight. However, this week was a tri- umph for dependable Premier League players, Meyler being no exception. No one would have predicted that his goal for seemingly out of form Hull would net a point at the Champions. His biggest moment of the season.
