1789 CALA 1789 Cala est né début 2010 au cœur de la Côte d’Azur, avec la volonté de remettre en avant l’espadrille traditionnelle française. Elément clé du projet, le « Made in France ». En effet, tous les modèles sont conçus et fabriqués en France. En avril 2010, grâce à notre collaboration avec un atelier artisanal situé à Mauléon dans le Pays Basque, nous produisons nos premières espadrilles. La collection “Classique”, déclinant une espadrille traditionnelle en 22 couleurs (plus de 37 aujourd’hui) parée du petit écusson aux couleurs de la France, voit le jour et les boutiques commencent à passer commande. Un an après la création de la marque, le challenge est réussi puisqu’en 2011, 20 boutiques distribuent les espadrilles 1789 Cala. Cette même année, nous précisons notre signature en investissant dans nos propres moules de semelles portant les noms des différentes villes de la Côte d’Azur - Monte Carlo, Saint Tropez, Cannes, Nice… - telle une invitation au voyage. La gamme s’étoffe avec l’apparition de la collection “Créateur“, des modèles aux formes travaillées, mocassin, desert boot et même spartiate. Nous utilisons aussi de nouvelles matières comme le cuir, le jute, le coton mesh... Et continuons à fabriquer cette collection en France. 1789 Cala est la marque à porter l’été. Nous agrandissons donc notre collection à de nouveaux produits. Des t-shirts et des polos « made in France », des shorts de bain et des bermudas… Des accessoires intègrent aussi la collection : sacs et des serviettes de plage, casquette… Aujourd’hui, plus de 140 magasins distribuent la marque en France mais aussi à l’étranger notamment au Japon, USA, Chine, Hong Kong, Russie et en Corée du Sud. La première boutique 1789 Cala a ouvert ses portes en mars 2013 à Juan les Pins, en plein cœur de la Côte d’Azur entre Nice et Cannes.
1789 Cala was founded in the early 2010 at the very heart of the French Riviera, with the willingness to rethink the traditional French espadrille shoe. The Key element of this project is the “Made in France”. As a matter of fact, all of 1789 CALA’s shoes are conceived and made in France. In April 2010, thanks to our collaboration with a handcraft workshop, situated in Mauléon in the Basque Country, we created our first espadrille shoes. It is with the “Classique” Collection, presenting a range of traditional espadrille shoes in 22 colours, adorned with a small French flag crest, that we introduced the newly rethought French espadrille shoes to the market through different shops and boutiques. A year after the creation of the brand, the challenge turned out to be a success as in 2011, twenty boutiques distributed the espadrille shoes 1789 CALA. The same year we strengthened our brand signature by investing in our own tread moulds on which were engraved different towns from the French Riviera – Monte-Carlo, Saint Tropez, Cannes, Nice...- As an invitation to travel. The range expanded with the invention of the “Créateur” Collection, composed of elaborated espadrille shoe styles from moccasin to desert boot and even a Spartan design one. Besides, we use different materials such as leather, jute or cotton mesh, maintaining their production in France from start to finish. 1789 CALA is a summer brand. We are therefore expanding our Collection with new products: T-shirts, Polos “made in France”, swimming shorts, bermuda shorts and accessories such as bags, beach towels, caps etc. Today, the “Classique” Collection presents more than 37 colour shoes, 1789 CALA is distributed in over 140 shops in France and abroad, from the USA to Japan, China, Hong Kong, Russia and South Korea. The first 1789 CALA boutique opened in March 2013 in Juan les Pins, a centrally located town of the French Riviera between Nice and Cannes.
