Education

GIFT #1 – GIVE BUDDHIST YOUTH A CHANCE TO HEAR THE GOSPEL

Fourteen-year-old Thuya* longed for an education. Hearing that the teachers at Ayeyarwady Adventist Seminary (AYAS) were good, she asked her Buddhist parents if she might attend school there. Although reluctant to send her to a Christian school, they finally agreed. “The most wonderful thing I have learned from this school is that God is our Creator and Jesus is our Savior,” Thuya says. “In January 2021, I decided to be baptized. Please pray that I will be a good example to my Buddhist family.” Thuya was one of six students baptized this past year as a result of the Home Away From Home project in Myanmar, a missionary training program designed to reach Buddhist communities by meeting the educational needs of the youth. This project provides housing, tuition, and medical missionary training to underserved Buddhist youth seeking an education at AYAS. Currently in its second year, the project has a strategic plan to become self-supporting through the operation of a community English language school and a small store. Your donation will grow this ministry so that many more may receive the gospel. $15 per month/$180 per year to cover a student’s tuition fees (20 needed) $1,800 to provide student housing or a teacher’s stipend (3 needed) for one year $14,715 to fund the entire project for one year

GIFT #2 – CHANGE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES FOR ETERNITY

“Whenever we have a problem, we must pray to God. He is always with us, and He will help us.” Remembering her teacher’s words, 11-year-old Chanthou,* who attends an ASAP school in Cambodia, began pleading with God to save her parents’ failing marriage. And He did! “I am so happy for this miracle God did for my family!” says Chanthou. Each year, thousands of at-risk, unreached children like Chanthou meet their prayer-hearing, miracle-working heavenly Father, thanks to your support for ASAP schools. Your gifts to ASAP’s Education Fund change their lives and, by God’s grace, their families. $50 suggested gift (any amount appreciated)

“The most wonderful thing I have learned from this school is that God is our Creator and Jesus is our Savior.”

GIFT #3 – SPONSOR A JUNGLE SCHOOL FOR DISPLACED CHILDREN

The world’s longest-running civil war is in eastern Myanmar, where ethnic conflict has displaced the Karen people from their homes. Seven decades on the run have also robbed successive generations of the opportunity to get a quality education. While many Karen villages in the mountainous jungles along the Thai border are still strongholds of animism and Buddhism, the gospel has gained an entrance there through small schools established by Karen Adventists. ASAP now supports more than 30 of these schools. Help them bring the good news of the soon-coming Savior to the displaced children of this wartorn region.

$155 per month/$1,860 per year to sponsor one jungle school (Costs vary based on school size. One-time gifts of any amount are also appreciated.)

GIFT #4 – SEND A POOR CHILD TO SCHOOL

Six-year-old Manivanh* loves her classes at Panyasavanh School. She comes from a Buddhist family where her mom sells vegetables in the market and her dad pulls carts for a living. Without a stable income, they live from day to day. But at school Manivanh is able to make friends, learn, and hear stories about Jesus. Give the gift of love to students like Manivanh by sponsoring them, and watch their lives change as they learn of Jesus’ love for them. Manivanh says, “Thank you for giving your love by supporting me to have an education!” $30 per month/$360 per year to sponsor a student* *Visit the sponsorship section of our website to meet students in need of a sponsor. One-time gifts are also appreciated.

“It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish” (Matthew 18:14, NKJV).

GIFT #5 – HELP A HISTORIC MISSION SCHOOL EXPAND ITS REACH

Lay Poe Hta Adventist School was established in 1925 by Pu Htate Poe, a Karen Adventist won to Christ by Australian missionary Eric B. Hare. Since then, enrollment has grown to nearly 400 students. Following the recent coup in Myanmar, a new mission opportunity is opening as Buddhist families from neighboring villages clamor to transfer their children from government schools to Lay Poe Hta. The number of boarding students has doubled, and the school’s library has become their temporary living quarters. With funding for urgently needed boys’ and girl’s dormitories, the school can accommodate its current boarding students and admit 50 more. $9 for 100 bricks (25,000 bricks needed) $210 for 1,000 board feet of lumber (48,000 board feet needed) $20,415 to fund the entire building project

GIFT #6 – UPLIFT LITERACY 4 LIFE

Imagine stepping foot into an ASAP Literacy 4 Life school in Cambodia. Your eyes alight on the face of a committed Adventist teacher like Chom Vanna, whose smile extends from ear to ear. You spot energetic students, eagerly devouring the truths in their My Bible First lessons. Beautiful Christian melodies flow from the mouths of children with Buddhist backgrounds. These schools are often the only Christian presence for miles. Your gift of $75 will go far to support this impactful program. $75 to provide a teacher’s stipend and classroom supplies for one month
