I was not looking for a baldy bull, but when I walked into Doug Bichler’s bull pen, there stood Cruz. Cruz is a very attractive baldy out of HHS Miss 836Z, she is a real eye catching, head turning, outcross performance cow. Cruz is a very well- put-together bull with all the bells and whistles, only 83 lbs at birth, and went on to wean at 764 lbs. Cruz posts a big 15.43 REA, and was definitely a sale attraction with a lot of friends sale day. Look at his EPD and $API and $TI indexes, 11 traits in the top 30% of the breed. CRUZ is a powerful outcross bull that is certain to sire attractive baldies that will be eye-pleasers, with performance. An added bonus, his carcass traits are in the top 10% for marbling and the top 4% for REA, antagonistic traits that rarely line up this well. Cruz has a very quiet, easygoing disposition. If you like Baldies, you will want to use Cruz.

We brought Heyday into our program because we were looking for an Impact son that offered the power and growth that Impact was known for. We also demanded less birth wt. and desirable carcass values along with elite maternal qualities. After visiting Paul Rydeen’s strong offering and evaluating all the data and his cow herd, Heyday was an easy choice. Heyday was the Lot 1 bull in Paul’s highly sought-after 2021 production sale and went on to demand top dollar when he sold. After two calf crops we know Heyday will sire calves that are 6 frame, thick, deep, and attractive. They come in the 80- to 100-lb range at birth. Heyday’s sons were received very well in the sales that they represented. They consistently sold from $5000 to $10,000 and many sold for over $8500. Heyday’s heifers may be his best asset, there are several heifers in our replacement pen that look to be some of the top choices. If you are looking to add fleshing ability and volume along with strong maternals, Heyday will be a good choice. The Heyday cattle add value and are highly accepted by cattlemen and women that sell their calves by the pound. The dispositions are very good.
