4 Challenges faced by young leaders

One of the biggest challenges that young leaders face is learning how to manage a team. When you're the boss, you have to balance delegating tasks with taking charge and leading your team. It's important to understand what makes people tick and how they react when facing certain situations. Here is a list of some major challenges as taken from the

Ascension Leadership Academy Lifespring initiative to train leaders of tomorrow.

1. Lack of experience

The best way to learn is by doing. If you don't have enough time, experience and patience, then your lack of knowledge will affect your ability to lead others. Leadership works in this way in the business world. It seems interesting at first glance but it needs continuous learning to move forward in this field.

2. Not knowing how to delegate

Delegating is a skill that can be learned, but it's often easier said than done. Many people struggle with delegating because they don't know how to do it effectively and efficiently.

To start with this challenge, first off, ask yourself what your goals are for delegating tasks or projects. Is this something that needs to get done right away? Or does it require more time and effort?

3. Managing larger teams

Managing larger teams can be a challenge. Many companies are struggling with the same problem, and it’s not just because they have to deal with more people or because they have many employees. The main issue is that leaders don’t listen enough and allow their teams to grow.

Leaders need to understand that every member of their team has something unique to offer, whether it's their ideas or their expertise in specific areas.

Leaders should always listen closely when team members speak up during meetings or at work-related activities, even if it feels uncomfortable at first because there might be something valuable that needs fixing right now and then act on those ideas.

4. The legacy of the previous leaders

The legacy of the previous leaders is a good thing or it can be a bad thing. It all depends on how they shaped your organization and what they left behind for you to carry out in their place. If you were not comfortable with how things were before, then you may want to do something about it; otherwise, if everything seems fine and dandy now that people have left their positions behind

It is also essential to consider whether or not there are any other factors at play here perhaps there was some conflict between two factions within the company (e.g., two founders); perhaps one faction had been pushing for certain changes while another group wasn't interested in making any drastic changes at all; maybe even both groups could support some improvements but only one side felt strongly enough about them? This can make all kinds of difference when deciding whether or not something needs changing around here.

You are used to a different style of leadership. You are an experienced leader and have been in your position for years, so it feels like you know what works best for the team. However, this is not the case for everyone on your team.

people don’t understand why they need to change their behavior to get things done or communicate effectively with their peers and superiors and sometimes even with each other. Young leaders face many challenges and need to be aware of them. The challenges are different for each role, company, country and culture. They also change depending on the industry in which you work.
