Conditions & References XIV : EXAMPLE XIV EXAMPLE XIV 127.2 parts of N-cyclohexylformamide and 81 parts of phosphorous acid were reacted with 137.3 parts of phosphorus trichloride at 70°C, and maintained for 5 hours at this temperature. The reaction product was dissolved in water, treated with acetone and the precipitate separated. A 25percent yield of N-cyclohexyl-1-aminomethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid, based on PCl3, was obtained. Patent; Henkel and Cie G.m.b.H.; US3979385; (1976); (A1) English View in Reaxys 5 : EXAMPLES 5) The mixture of 92.2 g (=0.3 mol) of 2,4-di-tert-butylphenyl dichlorophosphite and 0.1 g (=0.9 mmol) of 4-dimethylaminopyridine was stirred for 6 hours at 190° C. while passing through a gentle stream of nitrogen. In the course of this, PCl3 formed was carried off. The mixture was allowed to cool, the distillative removal of residual starting material was dispensed with and an 31 PNMR spectrum was prepared. Patent; Hoechst AG; US5210260; (1993); (A1) English View in Reaxys 1.C : C. C. Phosphosilicates Phosphosilicates prepared by reacting SiCl4 with 0.1 to 5 equivalents of PCl3 were prepared using the following ratios of PCl3 (2M in CH2 Cl2; Aldrich Chemical Co.) and SiCl4 (Petrarch Systems): Patent; Becton Dickinson and Company; US5503816; (1996); (A1) English View in Reaxys Examples of dehydrating agents useful in this reaction are as follows: (i) mixtures of copper sulfate and acetic anhydride; (ii) phosphorous oxychloride; (iii) phosphorous trichloride; (iv) phosphorous pentoxide; (vi) acetyl chloride. Patent; International Flavors and Fragrances Inc.; US4985402; (1991); (A1) English View in Reaxys 5 : (preparation of di-n-butylchlorophosphine) EXAMPLE 5 (preparation of di-n-butylchlorophosphine) 148 g (1 mol) di-n-butylphosphine was dropped at a maximum reaction temperature of 30° C. into a suspension of 232 g (1.1 mol) PCl5 in 500 ml toluene. HCl and PCl3 formed during the reaction were removed under a vacuum of 130 mbar and condensed in a cooling trap.

Patent; Weferling; Norbert; Klose; Werner; US4752648; (1988); (A1) English View in Reaxys 19.B : B. B. Propylene, PCl3 and Iodine Catalyst In a 316 stainless steel autoclave were placed 45 grams (1.07 moles) of propylene, 135 (0.985 moles) of PCl3 and 0.1 grams of iodine as catalyst. The mixture was reacted for 12 hours at 200°C. Analysis of the products by 31 P-nmr showed that 98percent of the phosphorus was unreacted PCl3. Patent; Stauffer Chemical Company; US3976690; (1976); (A1) English View in Reaxys 19.C : C. C. Isobutene, PCl3 and Iodine Catalyst In a 316 stainless steel autoclave were placed 47 grams (0.84 moles) of isobutene, 101.6 grams (0.74 moles) of PCl3, and 1 gram of iodine. The mixture of reactants was reacted for 12 hours at 210°C. While 46percent (0.39 moles) of the charged isobutene was consumed in the reaction, no identifiable level of bis-dihalophosphine type product was formed. The reaction formed 16.65 grams (0.18 moles) of tert-butyl chloride and 25.8 grams (0.1 moles) of butenephosphonous dichloride. As is shown in Example 15 in a similar experiment using elemental phosphorus, a yield of 14percent of crude distilled product based on olefin charged is obtained. The PCl3 formed is then distilled under vacuum and the reaction mixture is poured into iced water. The mixture is extracted with ether, the organic phase is washed with water until neutral, dried on sodium sulphate and the ether is evaporated. 90g of a red oil (2-isobornyl-4-chloroanisole) are obtained.
