GHOST PROJECT “Capturing the students’ nightmare that used to love the music of nature” There are some under construction building where the students feel the excitement to finish; Men’s Dormitory, but the most awaited one is the project in front of General Education Building. The construction happened during the year in service of the former President Doracie Nantes, that was planned to be called the Academic Square.

“Re-store the stress free campus entrance”---- a piece of President Eutiquio

statement when he was asked about the unfinished building. The front of GenEd building is the square of green grass, a spot during the flag raising, celebration of Department Days, even for the college Intramurals. The same in the place that you wanted to visit where you can see the different types of students busy doing their things, some are in group study or alone, rehearsing a performance, laughing together, a perfect image of the students. This kind of phenomenon is not introduction to us, that was all over the chapter of our book, Leaders promised a lot of project that seems to be `useful for the community, but at midst of term it remain a promise or worse there is a planted post, a tons of materials, a hired Contractors but the post still the post without the wall and roof. It is saddening that the project has been stop for a year now. Expected buildings that serve for the academic facilities end to be the best spot for the shooting of horror film. It should not even be a question of who bagged the budget. Or what reason

to stop the construction. We understand why the board should talk in the closed doors regard to that matter, but at least let the student, the community, the stakeholders itself, to know about the real score in that issue. Could they slide the glass window to enter on the building? See, that the students are the most affected. What is there to hide, right? Beside the students are still the promised to use the building if ever. Unfinished building is one of the major challenged for the present administration. Would be the re-storing to a stress-free campus entrance be possible? Or we should wait for another word from another face. What are advantages and Dis-advantages of restoring? Maybe we should stop the practice of promising the things that we can’t give.

Feature

It was another peaceful day in the Amazon. It was a full bliss as the cold breeze passes through my branches and leaves. The sun is currently smiling at me. The birds are chirping within my branches. Monkey, koala and other animals are happy hearing the humans who fought for us in able to preserve us. I can hear their victory. Plants and animals were once lived in harmony. Not until we saw a group of unknown men, wearing different clothes from a certain tribe, pouring something beneath us. Then they

start to laugh as they finish what they’re doing. I am still confused. Not until they lit a match and throw it towards the direction where they pour the liquid. “Fire! Fire!” a deer shouted. All the other animals were shocked and terrified. They start panicking. I wanted to move but I can’t do anything. We can’t walk or even move our twigs. Well, if we could, we would like to run away. It gets bigger… the place were covered with smoke. The green had turn into ashes. It was too late and all I

can hear are the deafening screams of wild animals. said.

“Calm down, everyone!” I

No one listens. They all start to run away, carrying their child and friends away from danger. The fire is evident everywhere, the possibility of danger is high that would lead to huge loss of lives. Extinction is predictable yet we waited. We stood there—watching the animals run, watching the birds fly. Standing still, hearing the silent scream of justice of my fellow trees, blended with swoosh of flames around. Unwillingly smelling the gas of burning plants and observing what despair looks like. “What are we going to do now?” The tree next to me asked. “What else?” I answered. “What else can we do?” The Amazon Rainforest has been burning for weeks now. Humans are not helping. Well, maybe some tried to, but it is not enough. They destroy us. “They burned us. I saw it all. I saw how my family were killed merciless. I saw how my family, one by one, disappeared, right in front of me. I couldn’t do anything about it. I had never felt so useless in my entire life, until that moment.” There

were

times

when

memories of happy moment came back to my mind, whereby all of us were silently living in peace; engaging in the continuous cycle of give and take. But now, the humans take more than what they need but still have the courage to burn us. They let us die. And then, they will complain due to the lack of oxygen. Their own act will be the death of them. “So this is goodbye then” says the tree who grow with me. “It is” the older tree said. “Goodbye, everyone. It was nice working with all of you. Our job of releasing oxygen for the humanity is on its due.” I said. I look on to the tree that is growing beside me. “I didn’t even get a chance to bear even a single fruit.” He said sadly. “It’s okay” I said. “Atleast, you grew old enough and helped this world by making oxygen” “You did a great job” the oldest tree said. “You all did a great job” the last word he says. The fire gets even bigger that it reaches me. That time, I knew this is my end. Extreme heat is already spreading from my root to my trunk and leaves. I can’t help but to cry silently as I watch myself and any other trees burn down. I thought human care for us, some maybe but not all and that was the worst part of it. We gave them what the need but this was all the exchange of it. I can’t see humanity at all. I will just accept my fate.. our fate that ends here.

O

‘ ne team, One Dream, One Goal’but life itself is a battle. Everyone got excited before the college Intramurals 2019. Departments have their own preparation technique, but what’s matter the most are the player, are they ready physically, mentally and emotionally?Warriors! Gives big impact, small voice shouting at me. Emptiness and silence filled the deep confusion inside, from the boiling waters, “Nakakapagod tapos di ma-appreciate ng iba.” A warrior spoke with power. The game wasn’t started yet but the thorns and broken crystal exists. It’s not just about winning the game by having a trophy and praises from other people. Yet, why some of us put so much expectation that becomes a burden to anybody. Players know their goals and limitations, strength and weaknesses.

Ascotians, instead of giving them pressure and burden. Why don’t we try to make some ways that inspires a warrior? Try to put yourself in their shoes, giving the best thing you can. But in return gossips and rumours about your failure. Is it failure a reason to be worried of ? In fact, worrying doesn’t change anything but believing is a choice. After the celebration of college Intramurals everything went right, such an ordinary day from the 365 day of a year, easily forgotten. “There’s always a rainbow after the rain” If we learn how to accept and not to judge, then we will be accepted. Three is a lot of reason to give up, yet! There’s always a reason to stay. Only brave, can take the risk, strive the best toward excellence. Let our voice, cheers up the gloomy warriors. Make them shine and bring back the momentum on their endless game in life.

Rachelle Ann A. Imperial If every Filipino is actively using his or her Facebook account on a daily basis, memes of Gretchen Diez and news about SOGIE BILL are impossible not to notice. Through the power of the internet, everyone has an access for news and we cannot deny the fact that everyone has a “say” about this issue. It is about the transgender woman Gretchen Diez arrested at mall in Quezon City for using woman’s washroom. Diez was denied use of the women’s comfort room at the Farmers Plaza mall by a female staff. She was then handcuffed and brought to the Quezon City Police District Station for unjust vexation. This issue drive the LGBTQIA together with Sen. Hontiveros the author of this bill to pass the SOGIE BILL, but the question is; in a matter of washroom it really a right for LGBTQIA community or a privilege? Is this bill necessary?

Let’s run a quick definition about this bill. The SOGIE (Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity and Expression Bill or House Bill 4982) seeks to penalize all forms of discrimination based on a person’s SOGIE. Once the SOGIE Bill becomes a law, we can say goodbye to some of our basic freedoms, such as freedom of speech, when we talk about them and they think it discriminate and offend them, we will be penalized by fine of not less than 50 to 200,000 or can be jailed for 1 year or less than 6 years. Say goodbye also to our freedom of conscience, religion and association. Parents can also say goodbye to their parental rights, for they cannot just say “NO: if their child choose to be part of LGBTQIA community. Under this law, people will be forced to ignore science and instead trust their feelings if they are female or male. Their biological feature will not define their gen-

der. They are allowed to use female-only restrooms and locker, compete in women’s sport, join beauty pageants, can be excepted in dress code at school and company. Again, is this law seeks for their rights or this law is a privilege for them? Is this necessary? This bill is inherently not revealed in our country because the rights of ALL FILIPINOS are protected by already existing numerous laws. Are LGBTQIA not Filipino? They are Filipinos. So why do we still need this law if all their rights are being protected. One of the netizen Vincent Ribaya said; “Have your rights been impede? Refer to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Have you been wronged? Refer to the civil code. Has crime been committed? Refer to the Revised Penal Code. Wrongfulness in the workplace? Refer to the Labor code. Sexually harassment Act.” See, there’s a lot of

law that can protect ALL Filipinos, all we must do is to seek for a right justice not to create a new law that could somehow defy some other people’s right. If it will become a law, women will suffer. Our country has its own way of treating everyone’s right. We accept LGBTQIA rights and we are not discriminating them. Do we still need paper and legislative to prove that we really accept them? Having LGBTQIA friend, classmates, teacher and workers are still not enough to say that we accept them? LGBTQIA transgender women are not allowed to use women’s comfort room, it doesn’t mean that they will pass a law allowing all the privileges on their side. If we could just respect ALL, transgender respecting women who are not comfortable having them on their own comfort room.

A Glimpse on Foundation Keilyn Cudillo

We students once dream to experience a worth remembering foundation day, whereby we can bear it in our mind in the most vivid way together with the memories we shared to our friends and classmates until our school year ends.

What makes a foundation day notable having its true essence? Is it the long duration of time given to celebrate this event or is it the effort that the teachers, staff as well as the student’s council exerted just to make this happen even though there is not enough time and scheduled time barriers.

The mere fact to this is that the scheduled became a conflict yet they manage to arrange a simple program consisting of a deportment presentation CAROLLING were by the ASCOTIANS from different department joined together to show their talent for this particular event. The highlight and the most awaited part is the Mr. and Ms. Foundation day 2019. Shout, scream, cheers, and a pplauses from each department is dominated the gymnasium. However, some students cannot hide their

annoyance on foundation day saying they didn’t feel the essence of this event for this is also the day were by of completing clearance and requirements. Students were seen all along the ASCOT premises with white sheet of paper in their hands. We can’t deny that we all have busy scheduled and yet we manage to experience such event. The effort is so mendable, hence, the unwanted circumstances must be a lesson to learn for the next year preparation for foundation day.

I am awake tonight Wishing do things can be changed I try to convince my self But it’s all so strange Is it me? Or it is you? Do I try? Or are we through? So long we’ve shared Just to walk away But so much hurt To want to stay. Why do we do this? Try to hurt the other more, Only to watch one Walk night out of the door I love you so much Yet I push you to the point of breaking But why do you play with my heart And never stop taking Don’t push Don’t try Don’t stress Don’t cry That is what plays Over in my head As I try to close my eyes And just go to bed

Color And Reflect Broken crayons still color. Shattered mirror still reflect light. Being broken does not mean that we are useless. Being shattered does not mean that we must be thrown out. Break a crayon and it becomes perfect for sharing another person. Shatter a mirror and it becomes a mosaic of a little reflection. Being broken means that we have the capacity to color the world more beautifully than a rainbow. Being shattered means that we have a greater power to reflect light. We must not see our broken life as pointless. We must not see the shattered pieces of our existence as a waste. Quite the contrary impact. Every broken and shattered pieces of our life is a part of what makes each of us beautiful and meaningful. No one colors the worlds quite like you. No one reflect the light of existence the way you can. Today! Start coloring the world and brighten day with your own special way. Because every one of us is broken and shattered.

Literary Pag Di Kayo Sure sa Akin, Wag na Kayong Pumasok sa Buhay Ko written by

“And all will be alright in time”, a line from the song Leaves of Ben and Ben. In the era of chinat-nilandi-ginhost, where is the right time to be alright. #Anona2020na, are we still gonna be the victim of chinat-nilandi-ginhost? Lot of us still in the process of fear, fear of rejection, fear of being alone and fear of the so called, “commitment.” The answer is NO, it’s already 2020 and we must choose ourselves, we must not be the girl who chase for someone’s attention. Stop being “maharot” and “marupok”. Let’s be the strong independent woman. A woman who knows her value, who knows that love will find her and it’s not her job to chase for men. What’s meant to be yours will find it way to find you. If it’s not for you, then it’s not for you. Learn to LET GO! Ghorl, those who tell that, “you are to much to handle” are not enough to match you. So if you are once a victim of chinat0-nilandi-ginhost,end that routine. Start anew life of being strojg independent woman. If someone approach you, let this be your mantra, “Pag di kayo sure sa akin, wag na kayong pumasok sa buhay ko.”

Winning in Life

Failure doesn’t mean you are a failure, it means. You have not succeeded. Failure doesn’t mean you don’t have it, it means You were willing to try. Failure doesn’t mean you accomplished nothing, It means you have learned something Failure doesn’t mean God has abandoned you, It means God has a better way for you The road to success is not straight there is a curve called failure. That’s why we should have the faith. In life there are people that will hurt us and cause us pain. But we must learn to forgive and forget. There’s a trust to gain. In life there are mistakes we will make We must learn from it and acceptance is to take. There are regrets we will have to live but we must entertain challenges to deal with. There are fears that will hold us back from what we want we must learn to fight and never say “can’t”. God holds our lives in his hands. Our faith through his guidance. He gave us key for the future. He is looking over you, I’m sure.

WHORE MAN

I know, it’s blurry.. a mess. It is hard to put into words that you cannot explain it right away, or neither to say, you would like to draw a masterpiece but you can’t understand what your mind is trying to say. Let us stay in this manner. One morning, on your first period of class, let’s assume you are having communication subject. I knock on your classroom to ask you out because I’ll be giving you a pencil. Oh, who the hell would give you a pen early morning when you yourself is struggling in a communication class that requires a pail of confidence for it mandatorily expects you to be a front-speaker and a total human embodiment of bold and braveness. Who would never feel the mild nerve-crack whenever the instructor picks an index card in rumble? “Crisanto, what is Bill of Rights?” “Damn, uhm..Sir..” “Haven’t you read the module yesterday?” I guess I should get myself out of here. It’s my fault. But no, that’s not gonna happen. Let us get back on the scenario of me giving you a pencil. You step out of the room as your instructor call your name, not for a recitation but because I am outside waiting for you. I’m sorry. May I know what is this for? It’s yours, I assume. Your classmates start to scream and all I can hear is “AYIEEEEH!” They got thin voices that it can disturb the class discussion on the room right next to them. You look at me and raise your eyebrow. You look something. Something is something. “Boy, Valentines is long way to go. I don’t accept any presence early to this date. A pencil? I can buy that” your voice is echoing in my head. This is your pencil, thought I could give it to you. You forgot. You were in shock.

It’s definitely not me, Who dream to be his lady, But it’s you! Who already buried.
