Nestled along historic Butcher Row in the heart of Shrewsbury is a charming boutique gift shop called White Orchard. Established in September 2011, White Orchard is beloved by locals and tourists alike. Owned by Jennifer, and her husband, it is filled with all her favourite things: jewellery, handbags, scarves, unique gifts and greeting cards, as well as stunning artificial flowers and personal touches for the home.

Before Jennifer moved to the UK she worked as a mental health counsellor specialising in addiction recovery. However, with her new life in Shropshire came a new career path. Jennifer said, “I worked in retail when I was younger and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved helping our customers and was excited to rework our displays to showcase “Honestly, I have a bit of an addiction to women’s accessories, especially jewellery and handbags. I am very particular in making those selections and I think our customers see that.”

When asked about her customers, Jennifer reflected on the generations of women who come in to buy gifts: “We often see three generations of women out together for an afternoon of shopping and lunch. I love it when young girls approach the till with little bits they picked out and want to buy with their pocket money. The smile on their faces when I hand them their bag of goodies melts my heart every time. I also enjoy helping men in their search for the perfect gifts for the women in their lives. The look in their eyes when they know they’ve chosen a gift their loved one will enjoy is priceless!”
When quizzed about her favourite things to order for her customers she said, “Honestly, I have a bit of an addiction to women’s accessories, especially jewellery and handbags. I am very particular in making those selections and I think our customers see that.
