CARBON 0: An energy archive acting as a solution to emerging global crisis by reduced carbon emissons NEWCASTLE,2020
Carbon 0 is an energy archive that produces energy through its built in algae bio-facade situated in Newcastle Co. Down, Northern Ireland. This project was introduced to tackle the emerging global warming crisis that leads to rising sea levels. Statistics show that this town will be submerged by the year 2100, if no effort is taken to decrease carbon emission levels. This archive is designed to live demonstrate the benefits of using algae within the facade of the building, which would aid in the production and conservation of energy. Users get a first hand experience on the production of algae into energy, thus urging them to adapt this design within their homes. This is a live strategy that could change the face of Newcastle by introducing it into a new carbon zero era. The archive also behaves as a public space, providing scenic views to the iconic landscapes of `Newcastle.

TEMP CONTROLLED ALGAE COLLECTORS
WATER COLLECTION UNIT
The algae extraction and conversion include 5 process: Algae Collector - The harvested algae is collected and stored in these giant collectors. They are sourced from the facade and contained here. This is then taken to the temperature controlled container. Temperature controlled container Here, the algae is seperated into liquid and solid form based on its temperature before sent to the centrifuge. This allows easier seperation. Centrifuge - Here, the algae is seperated into biomass, oil and various gases along with clean water. The centrifuge has five compartments that are seperated by densities. Heat Exchangers - Allows algae at different temperstures to pass heat from one state to the next without fusion this further aids in the seperation process. Heat Pumps - Collects the heat and pumps it through to the feothermal boreholes. `This aides in heating of the building.

THE RECOURSE An apartment complex designed to reintegrate the homeless into society BELFAST,2019
The Recourse is a residential project in the heart of Belfast in the historical district of Cathedral Quarter. The strategy of this project is to accomodate the homeless with young apprentices to help them once again become a part of society. The Recourse is a realistic way where this can be achieved. The ground floor of the complex has a public space, accomodating yoga classes, a vintage store and a library. It also has a small private garden for the residents. This post and lintel style of construction also allows additional units to be added in the near future when global warming proves to be a threat.

The design process behind the design can be seen here, where it began with a modular grid system with subtraction and addition of elements to creat functional cantilevered spaces. The vertical circulation placed in the central core acts both as a meeting point of residents while also behaving structurally. .Tall timber columns extending to the very top of the building provides a play on light and shadow while enhancing the user experience. This can be seen on the axo on pg.16.

THE TERNARY Bird observatory Tower in Al Wathba Wetland ABU DHABI,2019
The Ternary is a sustainable, non-invasive bird observatory tower in the middle of Al Wathba Wetland in Abu Dhabi. This wheelchair friendly design is composed to provide the users with a fulfilled 360 degree bird watching experience, with each ramp directs the user to a different species› nesting area. The design is comprised of reciprocal structures made from recycled paper tubes, thus allowing it to be assembled on site with little to zero groundwork. This ensures the wildlife isn›t disturbed, camouflaging with the landscape.

JOURNEY An interactive walkway that aids in data collection to boost tourism in Byblos BYBLOS,2018
The journey is an immersive user experience situated in the Byblos community centre, that tracks the routes the users take on the walkway. The concept of Journey is to symbolise how our paths always intertwine with others creating memorable memories. This structure collects statistical data of the region of both locals and tourists and how their journeys might be similar or different to one another. The design fully composed of statistical data from the amount of ‚play› in the lives of different people, can be expanded as new data is collected, therefore producing a project that builds over time.

DESIGN CONCEPT
Biomimicry..
Protection and mobility are two key factors that should be taken into consideration with this shelter. The armadillos’ carapace (shell) demonstrates how the shell provides natural protection for the armadillo and the soft armoured bands allows mobility. The bands move to allow the armadillo to curl up into a ball for increased protection and the end result is that virtually no flesh is exposed providing Design Problem utlimate protection The desert can from exernal factors. reach high temperatures in the day, especially in the summer.Users exposed to such conditions are at an increased risk of dizziness, sun stroke and dehydration which could lead to necessary medical invention.
