We Opened Doors to an Accessible Education Dear Mr. and Mrs. Greenberg, I would like to thank you for the donations you have made to Ashbury College to establish the Greenberg Family Scholarship. Your generosity allowed me to attend Ashbury last year for grade 9. It was my first year at Ashbury and I absolutely loved everything about it. I have always aimed high and Ashbury offered me so many different programs and classes such as the International Baccalaureate. The more I get to know Ashbury, the more I discover wonderful aspects of my school beyond academics. On the first day of school I was nervous about making friends and if I would meet the academic standards. As the first couple of days flew by, I quickly felt at home. I made lots of friends and I loved all my teachers. They were so supportive and went out of their way to help me. They truly care about my progress and success. I enjoy the challenges that come with my courses and I am very motivated. I have discovered my passion for literature and languages. I have also discovered how much I love sports. Before coming to Ashbury, I was more focused on music but in gym class, I have been improving and it helps that I am a naturally competitive person.
Lilian Mai Potvin ’17
I am also taking part in two co-curricular activities. The first one is the String Ensemble which goes with my musical background. I really enjoy participating because we play a variety of music, not just the classical music that I am used to. The second co-curricular I am doing is the Spanish Club. Spanish class is one of my favorite classes and the Spanish Club is the perfect complement. I recently helped organize the Spanish Fiesta and learned so much about the Spanish speaking world and their culture (such as the food)! When I was interviewed last year, I said that I wanted to be a doctor or a professional musician. Ashbury has opened so many new windows that I am now exploring other avenues. I know that whatever I want to be, Ashbury will have provided me with the academic and personal support I need to make my dream become a reality. Once again, thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to attend Ashbury College. Sincerely, Lilian Mai Potvin ’17 Recipient of the Stephen & Jocelyn Greenberg Family Scholarship

fund since 2009 and this year decided to accelerate the process and have committed $300,000 to fund a Canadian student, preferably a day student already at Ashbury, who wishes to complete their Ashbury education in the boarding program. The school is very excited about and grateful for their generosity.
“This gift and the scholarship will fit perfectly into our strategic priority of expanding access to Ashbury and providing an international experience to our students.” says Head of School Norman Southward. The school will also use some of its own resources to fund the scholarship and it is hoped that the first recipient will come in 2016. Interested applicants should communicate with Admissions.

We Left Our Mark
D
o you remember what your class gift was? The tradition at Ashbury College for the graduating class to leave their mark on our school has reigned strong over the years. Each year, the graduating class give a gift to the school to commemorate their time on campus.
Last year we achieved a participation rate of 97% for the class of 2014. Gifts made to the Graduating Class Fund provided a memorial tree and mahogany bench on our campus. We’re excited to see what this year’s class gift idea will be. The grade 12 class would like to thank all who supported their efforts. nnual giving at Ashbury College plays an important role in furthering the school’s mission and in shaping the lives of our
students. There is a large group of our community who give annually to the school and we would like to thank them for their support and generosity which has helped fund programs such as student financial aid, building projects, robotics and many other important initiatives. Last year annual gifts totaled nearly $300,000. Your help and support was vital to ensuring that our Head of School had the immediate resources necessary to allocate funds to Ashbury’s greatest areas of needTHANK YOU!
Scholarships More than 10% of Ashbury families benefit each year from some form of financial assistance. Your gifts toward endowments and undesignated giving through our annual fund are vital in ensuring that this assistance is available yearly and continues to grow.
Excellence in Teaching Teachers and staff members were able to rely on your generosity last year to help them bring innovation to Ashbury’s classrooms. Your gifts helped us update classrooms, fund the senior school’s speaker series, purchase the Jstor online library, provide audio equipment and so much more. As parents and alumni, you know first-hand the benefits of an Ashbury education. Thanks to your annual gifts our students can continue to experience the advantage of access to state-of-the-art academic, athletic and art programs and facilities.
