CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME Club Chairman Stuart Bonser gives his latest thoughts ahead of tonight's match

CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME

Good evening and welcome to tonight’s game against our visitors Rocester FC and may I extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and supporters of Rocester FC and hope that we all enjoy a good game.

I start my notes with sad news of passing away of Robert Birch. Robert, was the son Bob Birch, who was one of the clubs long standing supporters and volunteers in the days when we played on Hood Park and we would like to pay our respects by holding a minutes silence at tonight’s game in memory of Robert and pass on our condolences to his family and friends.

Last Saturday saw our home support grow to 154 which was fantastic to see and thank you all for following the team, I know the players and the Club really appreciate it. Thank you to you all for following the COVID guidance and notices that are now placed around the ground and now that we have football back lets ensure that we all continue to follow the rules now set and keep everyone and yourselves safe whilst with us.

The result could have gone either way but a draw was testament to our players who worked hard against a strong Lichfield team and I hope the players took the positives out of the game and can continue to work hard for each other and I am sure more wins will come their way.

This week sees the Midweek Under 18 team start their campaign, here at home tomorrow night and Conrad, James, Mo and Chris have worked hard to pull a squad together that will represent the club under lights and I wish the players all the best for their first experience under the lights and hope you have a good season.

On Thursday night, the Knights are at home against Ellistown FC and I am sure that the players will relish the local derby against some former players and Manager at Ashby Ivanhoe FC. The Knights kicked off their season last Saturday with a narrow defeat against Blaby but I have to remind everyone that the Knights are playing against many first teams in the Premier Division and it will be a good test for the players as they continue with their development and progress at the Club.

All that remains is to wish the players a good game and hope that we can put another performance together which brings us further points. Enjoy the game

Stuart Bonser Club Chairman
