Kara Newton TKB Realty Group Brokered by eXp Realty Turning For Sale Into Sold
Kara Newton is not afraid of hard work. She owned All About Fashion (known as Switch It Up Cash and Consign when sold in 2014) for six and a half years and built it up to be one of the largest clothing and furniture consignment stores in Asheboro. After she sold it, she became involved with a fast-growing network marketing company and building a global team. Between June 2014 and November 2016, when she resigned, she had just under 5,000 consultants in her organization. She went to work in other network marketing companies before moving on to the corporate world. One of the tools Kara has always embraced in any of her businesses is marketing through social media. It helped her grow her consignment business through Facebook when she started her page in April 2009, and it was instrumental in growing her team in the network marketing company. After her time in network marketing, she went to work for Burlington KIA in mid-2018. She was hired on the spot because they said they loved her energy and positive spirit. She started as the Online Salesperson and within seven weeks she was promoted to Online Sales Manager and also took over

the social media page. While she was good at her job, it did not spark her passion and she left the dealership in February 2019.
On March 7th, she was sitting on her couch struggling with the feeling of having no purpose or direction and not feeling fulfilled in her career choices with no clear idea of what was next. Out of the blue, she received a text from her sister Kyla about the possibility of taking a real estate class together. The feeling of what she calls a “God Wink” washed over her, because for years her husband and friends had been mentioning real estate to her, telling her she would ‘kill it,’ but she would always brush it off. After discussing it with her husband, Jonathan, she put the class on her credit card because finances were tight and began her real estate journey. She kept it hush hush, because she was fearful of failing since all the research she had done said that there was a 50%+ fail rate in real estate. For the next several months she commuted to Winston Salem two nights a week to attend classes. She took the test to get her real estate license and on May 31, 2019, it was official. The 110 hours of studying had paid off, she passed the test. Kara says it was one of the hardest things she has ever done.
She started with a local firm, which offered a foundation to learn the market, work hands-on with a Broker in Charge and other agents and began to build her reputation in the real estate world. The day after she signed with the firm, she received a text message from Tracy Garnett, owner of Garnett Landscaping, saying he had a co-worker looking to sell. That was her first transaction, and Tracy has continued to send her referrals and she has also done a second transaction for those same clients.
In her first six months she sold 10 homes, and in her first full calendar year as an agent she closed 60 homes and two rental/lease transactions. According to the North Carolina Association of Realtors, the average real estate agent sells on average 10 to 11 homes per year, but Kara has never strived for ‘average.’
In February of 2021 Kara left the local agency, becoming TKB Realty Group and partnering with eXp Realty, one of the fastest-growing residential and commercial real estate companies, with agents in the US and eleven other countries. For Kara value was super important and it wasn't necessarily eXp that drew her in, it was the people within eXp. The ability to lock arms with local and national top producers who are open minded, collaborative and willing to share every secret and strategy they've utilized to get to where they are, and most importantly the things not to do. Connecting with those types of people is invaluable and a rare find in the industry so it was a true fit for Kara. She is always focused on growth and providing the best to her clients and she found this checked all the boxes in her search. They also allow you to brand yourself with your own flare and that is super important to Kara.
Kara currently works as a single agent and has parttime virtual help with the behind the scenes work but will soon be bringing on a full-time admin to free up
her time to allow her to help more people accomplish their goals of buying, selling or both.
She just closed her 50th & 51st transaction for the year on September 14th and is on track to close between 75 to 80 transactions this year. Since beginning real estate a short two years ago, she has already closed more than 125 properties and enjoyed multiple referrals from satisfied clients. She currently outsells the average NC real estate agent by 500%!
Kara has built a reputation for excellence and that has gotten her a lot of attention recently. She does more than just throw out a sign in the yard. She offers exceptional service creating an exclusive next level listing experience at no extra cost to the client. She uses professional photography, videography, digital marketing and much more. Real estate is always changing, and the way people purchase homes changes too. It is important to hire a real estate agent who is on top of the evolving world of real estate and in touch with how consumers do business.
More and more of her business is based on referrals. Although she is not 100% referral based yet, her last several transactions in September were all due to referrals. She has also noted that the price point for the homes she is representing has been going up as well, as she has proven herself through satisfied customers. Kara prides herself on providing next level marketing and service to her clients. You will only find the best when you choose her to represent you. Kara has a TEAM of providers she utilizes to make everything flawless. Be Bold, Stand Out and Be Extra, that’s how she rolls!
With her growing success, Kara’s husband Jonathan left his family’s business four months ago to help her grow her real estate business, putting out signs, lock boxes, behind the scenes marketing and anything else
she needs done to offer her clients the best possible service. Whatever she needs, he is there to take care of it for her. Jonathan has also taken on some housework, cooking, and laundry to free Kara up to service her clients better. Her son Jacob also helps out when and where he is needed. It is truly a family business.
Kara has been keeping a big secret that she has been working so hard to accomplish! She is ecstatic to announce that she is opening an office in Asheboro on Dixie Drive. She will be the Broker in Charge at TKB Realty Group brokered by eXp Realty, located at 523B E Dixie Drive, next to Boost Mobile just across the road from Cook-Out. Look for the pink signs going up soon, the office will be open some time in October. Meanwhile, her mobile office is easy to spot around town. Her new slogan #PaintTheTownPink will be all over social media and more in the coming months.
Kara looks forward to providing mentoring to other agents through eXp as they continue to reach out and list her and her agency as their sponsor and helping them expand their own sales through a strong social media presence and more. Although not a fan of public speaking, she is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience with others and seeing them succeed. Kara recently hosted a Lunch & Learn along with her mentor Bryan to help educate other local agents on how to leverage the power of social media. She is known among her peers as the “Consistency Queen.”
Kara plans to join the Chamber of Commerce and get involved in the community under the new agency. While she has been busy building her real estate business, she has taken the time to join the NextGen Professionals group that meets at the Chamber and enjoys networking with other young professionals in the area. She also sponsors several school events and looks forward to continuing to add more.
Even while on vacation, Kara is never without her laptop and often spends her evenings reviewing offers for her clients or putting together winning bids. She has even been known to slip out of the house in her PJs to put up a sign or put a lockbox on a door late at night. She works hard for her clients 24/7 to make sure they always get her best.
Kara and Jonathan have three children, Jacob, 18, Megan, 16, and Morgan will be 13 in November. As a family, they love taking spontaneous trips to the beach – leaving early in the morning, spending the day at the beach, and coming home that night. They also love eating out at the local Mexican restaurants and stopping at Kara’s favorite coffee truck, The American Bean, to fuel her through the day.
Kara is very active on Facebook; you can check her out there! Make sure to give her page a LIKE and read her 30+ glowing reviews. Her website will soon launch at www.tkbrealtygroup.com.
