Skills USA 2013 Brief During the 2013 Skills USA Arkansas Advertising Design competition, I was required to create thumbnail sketches, mock-ups, and final prints of a logo and brochure that was intended to influence senior citizens to retire in Arkansas. The design had to be completed in just five hours, and internet capabilities were only available for approximately one hour. Using the entire five hours, I created the following designs. I won the competition, received a gold medal and a scholarship for two years at any Arkansas technical school, and I was recognized in front of hundreds of people.

NPTC ADVERTISING DESIGN: BRANDING COMPETITION Brief During my junior year of high school, I participated in a vocational technology course called Advertising and Graphic Design Level I. Towards the end of the year in this course, both the Level I and Level II students were assigned to groups of three, and we were required to complete a random branding, packaging, and advertising project while acting as a “design firm” and going through the creative process from start to finish. For my group’s project, we had to create a lip balm with a target audience of men aged 15-45. As the graphic designer and creative director of my group, I pitched the name and theme, created the logo, made digital mock-ups of the product packaging, rendered all of the graphic designs, and presented to a panel of judges from the National Park Technology Center school board. My team won the competition and received a perfect score on the assignment.
