BEFORE YOUR WEDDING If you’re considering hiring me, I would love to set up a free consultation in the next few days to discuss your wedding and meet you! It’s important that you feel comfortable with me and that I answer any questions you have before you decide to book me. If you’re booking me for your engagement session also, we’ll pin down a date at our meeting and plan some details so you know exactly what to expect. About a month before the wedding, I would love to take the two of you out to dinner - my treat! This gives us an opportunity to pin down the exact details and timeline of the wedding.
WHAT TO
EXPECT
AT YOUR WEDDING My desire is to capture your wedding day as it happens, not to take control and manipulate the day. When there are moments that I need to help and give direction, I am comfortable with that too. Before the wedding day, we’ll decide when you want to do the photo
AFTER YOUR WEDDING
sessions. Some people like to take the bride and bridesmaids photos before the ceremony;; this gives us plenty of time to take photos of the bride & groom, family, and the rest of the wedding party between the ceremony and reception. We’ll make sure to pin down the schedule
Previews will be popping up on Facebook within a few days because waiting to see your photos is the hardest part. I’ve been there! It will take me 3-5 weeks to finish all the editing and the photos will be delivered on your own private online gallery. You have the option to share with friends and family. If you ordered an album, you’ll pick your favorites, and I’ll have my graphic designer start working on the designs right away. All prints and products are optional purchases.
before the big day, that way it all goes as smoothly as possible. Once we get to the reception (on time, I should add), I’ll make sure to get photos of your guests, candid moments of you interacting with each other, and all the fun moments that happen at receptions. Before I leave, I’ll find you and make sure you are ready for me to take off. I never leave without giving you a 10-minute heads-up. There have been a few occasions where a bride decided to keep me for another hour. I’m perfectly fine with that spontaneity.
Even once your photos are delivered, you’re still my client. You want a specifc photo edited in black and white? Got it. You want an image cropped slightly different? Great. Because I’m your photographer even after the wedding ends.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FAQ How long does it take to get our images? Your online gallery will be ready within four weeks of the wedding date. You have the option to order the Rush Editing to get the photos within a week.
Do you come to the rehearsal? Rehearsal dinner coverage is available if you’d like to add it to your package;; otherwise, I do not attend.
Can you hold a date for me? If we have a meeting set up and you request it, I can hold your date for two weeks. Communication is key. If I don’t hear back from you after those two weeks, I will assume you’ve decided not to hire me.
Do you refund deposits on cancellations? No. The retainer fee is non-refundable. The retainer guarantees that I will hold the date exclusively for you, and once you’ve signed the contract, I do turn down all other commissions for that date.
We’re ready to book, what’s next? Great! When you’re ready, I require a signed contract and a deposit of $500. If your engagement session is part of the package, you’ll pay $300 at the time of the session, which comes off the balance. The remaining balance is due one month before your wedding date.
Is the deposit included in the total price? Yep. Once you pay the $500, your wedding package is $500 less than it was. It counts as a first payment.
Do we have to pay to download our wedding photos from the gallery? Nope. The download is free. You also have printing rights, which means you can download and print anywhere you’d like. You’ll have two months to print from the gallery that I give you. The gallery will be up for two months, so make sure to get those downloaded before the expiration date.
I lost my photos. Do you still have them? Yes. I keep your photos on my external hard-drive for 5+ years. It’s $20 to re-upload the gallery. Make sure you save your photos on a few difference thumbdrives, cd’s, or devices.
How many hours do you suggest we set aside for the wedding day sessions? A lot of this depends on the time of day, but these times are usually ideal (we can adjust to fit your schedule): Bride and Bridesmaids – 20 minutes Groom and Groomsmen – 10 minutes Wedding Party – 20 minutes Bride and Groom session – 30 minutes Family Formals– 30 minutes (This time depends on how large your family is and how many of your extended family you want in your formal photos). Have a list of pictures that you want with your family/friends right after the ceremony. It would be helpful to have one organized (and loud) person from each side of the family to help move people in and out of photos.
HERE’S A LITTLE SOMETHING ABOUT ASHLEE from Ashlee Kay Photography First of all, congratulations on starting a life with your better half! It’s a true honor to be considered for your big day! Here are a few things you might want to know about me: 1. I try to smile as much in real life as I do in my emails and posts! I don't wink nearly as much though (Because that would be creepy)! 2. I LOVE painting, but I'm awful at it. I'm looking up at a failed 'flower' painting right now. It's bad. Ha! I'll repaint over it and hope my next attempt works better! 3. My husband REALLY wants me to like coffee. I think it's growing on me! I swore I'd never drink it by choice, and here I am... wanting coffee. 4. I have two beautiful daughters and an amazing husband. I'm thankful for them everyday! Seriously. How'd a girl get so lucky?! hing I’ve ever done. Of course it comes with its set of obstacles along the wa ut 5. I’ve been married since 2010, and I can honestly say marriage is the funnest thing I’ve ever done. Of course it comes with its set of obstacles along the way, b when I look at it as a whole... IT’S FUN.
