MUI KITCHEN ID275 KITCHEN AND BATH DESIGN his course challenges students to use planning requirements to create universal and accessible designs. Construction, electrical, and basic plumbing are taught with emphasis on these applications within residential kitchens and baths. Industry relevant nomenclature and product information are used to create technical documents and custom aesthetic solutions.
THIS CONTEMPORARY KITCHEN he layout corresponds to the NKBA kitchen planning guidelines maximizing the functionality of the space. he kitchen is designed around the work triangle guideline with special consideration to the proper placement of the refrigerator, stove, and sink. he work triangle guideline states that work centers (ie. refrigerator, stove, and sink) should not be less than 4’ and no more than 9’ apart from each other with no barriers between them. Careful consideration has been made to implement clear loor, countertop, and cabinet frontage space. his design solution embraces universal design concepts and accessibility guidelines for a multi-generational household. It also demonstrates an understanding of how interior design impacts human behavior such as occupant well-being and performance. he design selections are appropriate on the basis of aesthetics, performance, and sustainable criteria.
CONCEPT STATEMENT One of the main concerns for the client is they need more cabinet, and work space. Looking at this layout there is not much that can be done, so we decided to provide ceiling height cabinets and also providing an extra countertop adjacent to the refrigerator with base cabinets for ample storage. Providing them with banquette and bar height seating on the opposite side helped make better use of the space. When it came to lighting, the client requested that there be more task and under cabinet lighting. he addition of under cabinet and can lighting, provided the perfect amount of light for food preparation and other daily tasks. Overall, the client received a sleek transitional design for their everyday family.

CUSTOM TUNISIAN CHAIR his chair is based of a Tunisian style chair but in a more contemporary way. I wanted to keep their sloped back incorporated in a way without having the back physically sloped. To do that I went with a sloped arm to give the illusion of the slop. I stuck with light colored woods and a patterend fabric for the back.

Each loor showcases details that draw inspiration from each country. he artwork in the hallways is from our own private collection of photographs taken during our travels. You would like to enjoy a relaxing breakfast to get your day started, which is why I decided to design a breakfast restaurant. Since the two current restaurant design take ater Italy, my new design will relect the hotel level inspired by France. I will be using light colors and furniture that relect the atmosphere of having breakfast on the terrace in France. For this design I would like to have: - Lots of windows to have daylight and the ocean breeze coming into the space. - White terazzo stone tile throughout the loor. - Custom iron furniture to resemble breakfast on the terrace, - Pictures from the couples travel to France will be hung throughout the space. - here will be glass beaded dividers to add seperation to the space while still keeping it open. - he center of the space will have a bar with swings and patio like funiture to lounge around and relax.
