My Photographic Philosophy I come from a fine art background, where creative vision in composition was vital. I use the skills I learned while getting my bachelors in Fine Arts to work with my clients and to give them images that illustrate their unique personality through creative compositions and lighting techniques.

vintage effects I achieved. Now, as a wedding photographer, I edit my photos with film in mind, always trying to achieve that grainy, soft look. You won’t find many of my images with high contrast or bright colors they will always have a dreamy, soft touch to them.

I grew up in the Southwest which means that I grew up I have always loved film with sunshine almost always in photography and while I my life. When I work, I always finished my degree, I fell in think of where the sun is and love with the darkroom and the how I can incorporate it within

12

my photographs. Sometimes I use it to highlight the edges of my client’s figure; other-times, it’s used to liven up the image as golden rays stream behind my client and create a beautiful glow. When you work with me, you can be sure I’ll always use the sun to enhance your images as best as possible. I love what I do and my passion truly lies behind the camera. When we work together, you’ll undoubtedly see my passion come alive.

This last consultation is also a great time to view the venue and go through the timeline of the wedding. Even if you are booking a wedding planner, it’s vital that as your wedding photographer, I am a part of your planning process, especially when it comes to your wedding day timeline. It is a necessity to ensure you have enough time during your day for the photographs and to allow for your day to run smoothly as possible. The more time I have, the more photos you will get, and the more creative I can be in the process of creating them. If you have any questions with your timeline during your planning process, I would be more than happy to provide any suggestions and advice.

Engagement Sessions 24

Most of my wedding collections include engagement sessions and I love having the time to photograph my wedding clients before their big day. Why? Because this allows me to get to know you two and understand your chemistry, while providing a time for you to get used to being photographed before your wedding. This is a vital part of the entire wedding process because as your wedding photographer, it

will enable me to understand how you two interact, meaning that during your portrait session on your wedding day, I’ll be able to pose and photograph you in a way that is unique to you and your individual styles. These sessions are also important for both of you to get used to me photographing you, allowing for you to relax and let the true reflection of your relationship shine through.

The engagement session will be on a weekend, preferable in the evening or early in the morning, as the best golden light is at sunrise or two hours before sunset. Even if sunrise sounds very early to have a session, I promise the light is gorgeous! If we travel to the mountains, there may even be some fog, giving your engagement photos a delicate touch.

25

About the Shoot Scheduling the date for your session will vary, depending on what you are going to use the photos for. Save the Dates and perinvitations are usually sent out 4 months before the wedding. Since engagement sessions take two weeks to edit and process (which will be delivered via an online gallery), it’s best to book your engagement session at least 5 months in advance to ensure your selections have 26

been made with enough time for you to order your Save the Dates. Engagement sessions are really about you and your love for your fiance and should illustrate that through your style and location. When thinking about your engagement location, think about an area that really reflects who you two are as a couple, as well as individuals.

Are you coffee fanatics or just love a good pint of beer? Booking a session at a local coffee shop or brewery could be right for you. If you’re a couple who loves to camp, having a session at your favorite campground or within the local National Forest could be a great option. Keep in mind that some of the best locations are a little quirky and unique. Think outside the

box and if you have a concept or a theme in mind, keep me informed and I’ll try to offer a location that best suits your style.

What to Wear Coordinating outfits is also key when preparing for your engagement session, and keep your location in mind when thinking about what to wear. If you’re booking a session in the mountains or in a field, choose a color palette that

compliments the location and allows you to pop out from the background. Jewel tones like emerald green, turquoise and topaz yellow can really enhance your images with a great pop of color. Try to avoid busy patterns, matching-colored tops, shirts with logos and tennis shoes (unless you’ll be playing tennis!). Keep it simple but add a touch of flair - statement necklaces, scarves, hats and those beautiful heels you’ve

been dying to break in are great accessories for the brideto-be. For the gentleman, fedoras, vests, or a blazer can really enhance his style for the photos. During the session, plan on bringing one bag with your change of clothes and comfortable shoes to walk around in. Based on the nature of my photography, you might be climbing some rocks or hills so please come prepared!

“If I had my life to live again, I’d find you sooner.” — Kobi Vamada 37

First Looks First looks can be one of the most special parts of your wedding day - the emotions are tender, raw, and real. It’s just you and your future spouse, alone in a secluded area away from the business of the wedding day, sharing intimate moments together before the ceremony. First looks are one of my favorite things that my couples decide to do on their wedding

38

day. Period. It’s special not only for me to have the chance to capture such intimate moments like these, but it’s also important for the couple to have a private moment with each other before the wedding day events begin. Time flies so unbelievably quickly on the wedding day and I recommend it to all my couples if they have time in their schedules to ensure they have these intimate

moments together before the day rushes to an end. If you’re thinking of having a first look, it’s best to save at least an hour within your schedule to make sure nothing feels rushed. You want to enjoy these slow, private moments and having enough time ensures that you get to relax and enjoy this part of your day.
