Raka Residence A gulf front home designed to promote healthy living and a connection to the outdoors The Raka Residence is located just outside of Alys Beach, FL in the Sand Cliffs neighborhood. The home includes several exterior spaces to maximize views out to the gulf. The first floor has a spa, loggia, and fireplace lounge all facing the waterfront. The exterior stairs off of the loggia takes one to the roof terrace, which includes a pool, dining loggia, and summer kitchen. These outdoor spaces highlight views out to the ocean and promote a strong connection to nature. Upon entry, a series of steps outlined by fountains leads one to the entry loggia. In the entry loggia, there is a garden with views back to the entry fountains. This connection of rooms creates a welcoming space of relaxation and a small sanctuary to unwind. Off of the entry is the reception space which then opens up to the kitchen and living spaces. Since health and wellness is an important theme throughout the home, the west end has a designated sunken wellness room and outdoor yoga court. The second floor features most of the private bedroom spaces, with the primary bedroom and media room having two loggia balconies for outdoor lounging. Lastly, the roof terrace provides direct connection to the outdoors and views of the ocean. This project was completed with Project Manager Jason Hill and Assistant Project Manager Lauren Raub.

Todd Residence A large single-family home connected by a layered central courtyard space The Todd Residence is located in the northern part of Alys Beach, Fl. The home is 12,204 total square feet and features two “wings” of indoor space connected by a central outdoor courtyard. The north wing includes the main kitchen and living spaces on the first floor and the primary bedroom spaces on the second floor. The south wing includes the guest living and bedroom spaces on the first floor and the secondary bedroom spaces on the second floor. Both “wings” have views and access to the central exterior courtyard. The exterior courtyard creates a dynamic outdoor environment due to the sectional layering of spaces. The first floor pool bridges from the entry to the rear of the home. Flanking both ends of the pool are the pool loggias and just steps above is a loggia deck connecting the two. On the second floor are the pool terraces that lead to a secondary pool. On the third floor is the terrace that overlooks the whole courtyard and allows views out to the surrounding context. This project was completed with Project Manager Jason Hill and Assistant Project Manager Lauren Raub.

Weaver Interiors Tones and textures curate a unique experience throughout every room in the home The Weaver Residence is located in the southern part of Alys Beach, FL. The interiors of the home include a wide range of custom pieces; those being light fixtures, tables, beds, cushions, and pillows. The colors and finishes throughout the home are very tonal and specific to each room. The main living spaces include green and beige tones with blackened and tarnished silver finishes. These tones extend into the courtyard space , further connecting the interior to the exterior. The west end, opposite to the entry, is more quiet and moody. Black and brown tones with brass finishes are widely used in the LiBarRy and West Entry to create a more intimate experience. The second floor uses soft tones and textures to add character to each room. Off of the Stair Hall is the Master Bedroom featuring cool purple tones and natural wood accents. Furthermore, the office is wrapped in grey-blue tones and the media room showcases natural wood with soft and playful custom cushions and pillows. The third floor focuses on bold shades of blue and green to create a light environment for all of the outdoor terraces. This project was completed with Project Manager Jason Hill and Ortal Montoya, and Assistant Project Manager Lauren Raub.

Rafting Center and Boathouse Exploring Behavioral Responses to the Built Environment Through Architectural Complexity Location: Columbus, GA The Rafting Center and Boathouse is located on the edge of the Chattahoochee River. Many tourists around the United States visit Columbus to partake in the excitement and high-energy of white water rafting. The Chattahoochee river is the longest urban white water rafting course in the world and begins at the Northern region of Georgia all the way down to the panhandle of Florida. The Rafting Center and Boathouse connects the public to the waterfront edge of the Chattahoochee River. The complexity of form, structure, and space layers visual relationships and creates an ease of connection between programs. The building form and program organization is meant to reinforce views out to the water. The entrance, boat launch, and viewing decks are arranged to establish a multiplicity of views, but also so views can extend beyond just the building. There is engagement happening from the water going back to the boat launch and from the pedestrian bridge walking toward the building. To the North of the boat launch and entrance is the boat exhibition and boat wood shop. On the second level above that is the training facility. To the South of the boat launch is the boat storage. On the second level above that is the administration and learning center. The connecting element between the North and South building volumes is the viewing deck. The project encompasses elements of complexity to create a rich and layered experience. 26

Three important elements of complexity are established in this project. Those three elements are: multiplicity, spatial hierarchy, and visual contrast. Multiplicity is reinforced by the bifurcation of the form by the boat launch. This creates a central space where views can be established out to the water and across the boat launch. The spatial organization allows for more interaction between adjacent spaces and strengthens the central activity. The space with the most spatial hierarchy is where the boat launch and entry are located. This signals to our subconscious where the primary and secondary spaces are. Lastly is visual contrast, which can be seen in the difference of material and light and shadow. Our neurons and retinal cells are more responsive to areas of high visual contrast.

Flexible Urban Housing Exploring flexible housing opportunities for the 21st century family Location: Rome, Italy Located in the Flamino District of Rome, Italy, the Flexible Urban Housing project incorporates European living demands with new adaptive elements. The project site faces historic residential blocks, one being Villa Riccio, and establishes a relationship with the existing height of the housing blocks, and follows the same language of presenting a different façade to the public than to the private. The façade includes wooden shutters that can be adjusted to different privacy levels per unit. The transformative façade and individualized spaces allow families to have a space that reflects their personal needs. Each apartment has three to four bedrooms, some being single story and some being double, depending on the location within the building. All units include flexible elements that help to transform the interior space. For example, foldable walls, storage walls, and exterior balconies. The balconies mostly change from unit to unit, giving each family a private exterior space. The flexibility of the façade, with the wooden shutters, and the varied floor plan of the units provides its residents with a new idea of what a home can be. The individualized spaces allows each family, or each resident, to distinguish their single unit from the greater whole of the building. The district plan was completed with three other students, Meagan Edwards, Tanner Harden, and Victor Bufano.

Views of Connection A place for connecting art, people, and the city Location: Atlanta, GA The project Views of Connection establishes a physical and visual relationship between the building, the visitors, the art, and the city of Atlanta. This project is an extension of the existing Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and is located in Midtown Atlanta. The site currently has a MARTA subway station and a bus station. We were challenged with removing the bus station, which is were the majority of the art center program will reside, but to keep the MARTA station, though we could redesign the existing MARTA structure. This project creates a dense, public ground level by sharing a public plaza with the MARTA station and organizing most of the public program to have access from the ground level. The basement level, second, and third level provide various opportunities for art to be displayed and for views to be maximized to the public plaza, exterior gallery, and city. The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center provides a vibrant exterior space for the public and opportunities for modern art to re-emerge in the Atlanta art scene. Total square footage for the project is 67,500.
